and some are wanting Cutcliffe for HC. I just don't see that as a great hire for UT which is one of the top jobs in college football.

Most of their recent successes have been directly tied to Cutcliffe being in charge of their offense. I can understand that reasoning. Not that I agree with it, mind you, but I understand it.

No doubt that they have been successful under Cutcliffe offensively. But I know they could hire a way better coach. You are right...it's one of the top jobs in college football...

he is by far the most successful coach Mississippi has had since Johnny Vaught. And if a post I read on Nafoom a couple of months ago is true, he left Orgeron with something like 10 future NFL players so he apparently recruited a little better than their party line has been these past few years.

He did leave several players that made it into NFL camps. Not all of them lasted though.

Biddle
Boykin
Espy
Hill
McBride
Mitchell
Moore
Spurlock
Stallings
Willis

Those are just the players on the 2005 roster who Cutt recruited. The discussion was to debunk the idiots who like to act as if Orgeron was left nothing in 2005. If you include Orgeron's signees in 2005 and underclassmen who will most likely get an NFL shot, you can add Oher, Jerry, BGJE, Cook, Wallace, and possibly Sanford.

Seriously I don't think he would take it, unless Fulmer asked him to take it.

Ole Miss fans say a lot about Cut, but Im not sure many coaches would rather get fired from a million dollar a year gig than fire their Offensive Coordinator. Cut is very loyal, and I think he realizes that Duke is a much better fit for him.

Plus, I think Duke is his cushy retirement gig. Expectations are extremely low, and he can pull in some pretty good money for at least 5 years, probably even longer.

His whole career was set-up with UT, plus look at the retirement package and the money he would get, I'd say around $2.5 a year with a 5 year contract. Duke is not a secure job! I don't think that is what UT would do.

Most UT fans who are ready for Fulmer to hit the road, damn sure don't want anyone connected to him as the hc. If they blast Fulmer, and don't go after some hot-shot big name, but instead settle for Cut...Neyland Stadium might burn to the ground.
