I want to get this in writing for when we exceed expectations or underperform in a given sport instead of having an ever shifting, always changing view of what equals a successful season.

Football - 6 wins and an Indy Bowl

Basketball - 22 wins and "Last 4 Out" of the 68 team field

Baseball - 32 wins and a trip to Hoover, pray for an NCAA bid

Football - 7 wins and Music City

Basketball - 21 wins, 1 and done

Baseball - 34 wins, miss Hoover barely but make a regional

Track - I know nothing about it but top 10.

Basketball - NCAA Tournament, whether it's by automatic bid or otherwise; just get in

Baseball - Hoover and Regional, no excuses in Year 3.

Football- 6 or more wins and a bowl game...unless Relf gets hurt for the season, this should be accomplished

Basketball- NCAA Tourney...only 2 trips in our last 5 seasons- Stansberry should be coaching for his job

Baseball- more competitve now that Cohen will have 2 recruiting classes on campus...10 SEC wins and 30 overall

Seriously though, I'm just thinking Renardo is going to be as good as advertised and finally get us over the hump. He'll probably be a colossal bust now that I've said that, but he has been projected a Top 5 draft pick before for a reason.

Because they aren't the same thing with every sport.

Football - Expectation - At least 6 wins and a bowl. Successful season - At least 6 wins and a bowl.

Basketball - Expectation - NIT. More chemistry problems. The "we're young" excuse is advanced because we are starting a freshman point guard (since Bost left) and don't have any big man depth (hurt by Osby leaving). Sidney can score but plays no defense and thinks he is a guard. Kodi spouts off again.

Definition of a successful season. At least the second round of the NCAA tournament, at-large bid. No off the court distractions.

Baseball - Expectation - More of the same. Under .500 overall. Horrible pitching. Successful season - At least .500. Improvement. Good chemistry. Solid defense and better pitching.

I mean exactly what the topic said. What do you realistically expect next season for MSU sports? Not what we want to see happen or what bench mark we must meet.

Example:
MSU baseball expectation: a trip to Omaha
MSU baseball reality: praying for a trip to Hoover next season

MSU basketball expectation: an NCAA bid and advance to the Sweet 16
MSU basketball reality: will struggle to get on the bubble and then be left at home.
