College football is like any other corporate investment. They are all trading talent and all saying the same thing to investors, and investors are find reasons to waste their money because they are too rich for their own good. The programs don't really care RIGHT NOW about small donors, they are going for the big money guys who could only really give to infrastructure and coaches but can now give directly to talent. It is like all of college football going public at once, and there is now a ton of money flowing...of course, there is no payback and it is mostly flowing to dead-ends like crappy coaches and worthless players who will become millionaires but won't produce anything back. So the well will dry up soon enough, especially when players like a Tommy Frazier sues and wants a bigger piece of the pie, since they built the sport.

My biggest fear is that they won’t be able to land big name talent even if they have the funds. Matt would be easy to recruit against. 1 good season in 9 years. And it’s not just some Husker fans saying this. It’s a lot of people and coaches are going to use Matt’s in ability to win against him.

I worry we will over pay for G5 talent to make it took look more impressive. Like it’s what we wanted.

Like it or not Matt’s in a hole and he’s gotta claw his way out of it. Not with Zip lines and podcasts but on the field. The Pete Carroll bit only works if you win too.

Dude, or whatever. Chill. I see things how they are. I don't get emotional. Your very first statement may be false. We have lost the QB that Rhule banked his tenure on. There is no more arguing how Rhule turns things around by year 3, because that ship has sailed.

Next year is it for Rhule. I prefer an NU that can compete for conference championships at the very least.

44. First game I watched was in 1989 vs Oklahoma. The game is not the same as back then. You’re either with it or losing in the current paradigm. We are losing. Not afraid to admit it. We have a sliver of a chance that some new assistants provide a spark.

Have gotten a lot more media attention - By what measure? I live outside of Nebraska and I haven't felt it much at all. You say "a lot" but I can barely remember the last time I've seen Nebraska mentioned "a lot" on national media. Last time was either when we had a coaching search (much more media attention then) or a little at the beginning of the year until reality sets in and our wheels fly off yet again.

Prime time games on peacock - Lmao I can't even take this one seriously. This is the definition of scraping the bottom of the barrel for justification. I mean seriously, what else you got? Games on the B1G network? Here's a hint, worthwhile games don't go on Peacock. That's not a selling point for your boy.

Multiple 5 star commits - Um, that would be 1 signed commit. And he's already gone. Again, you're actually trying to use this as some kind of selling point? A blue blood with only ONE 5 star commits in 4 recruiting classes? And let us not forget our barely top 100 class this year.

I believe Tory Pittman is almost a 5 star as well (I know they haven't signed yet doesn't count) Pritchett was a 5 star out of high school (again I know he didn't live up to those expectations at Bama and was a 4 star transfer)

We’ll have 15 spots IF we can get upgrades. I’m questioning if we’ll be able to attract many upgrades though. Time will tell. Our talent is better than it has played IMO. There’s no way in hell as I was watching TCU last night that they have better talent than we did this year. It’s why multiple assistants got fired. People ***** about Barthel but his top pupil was our best player.

I don’t think anybody is “happy” about where he’s at just yet. I think they’re happier with 7 wins than 5 and are willing to be patient to see if he can take the next step. If you fire coaches with winning records at NU I’m afraid you’ll just perpetuate ugly rebuilds . Honestly with next year’s schedule, I’ll be surprised if we get to 7 but I still probably wouldn’t fire him. That extension makes it financially questionable at best. We look solely at Ws but ADs have to balance the books. It’s one of the reasons I’m so perplexed by that extension. Rhule had 5 more years. IF he hasn’t made it work by his year 5 of his original contract, he likely never will. By work, I mean 8-9 wins. So now we’re pot committed to probably having to keep him through year 7

Pritchett has gotten better as the season progressed. We’re screwed if we lose him. He’s an NFL starting OT. I gotta give Donnie some credit there and for what he got out of Corc at right tackle those last few games. Corc was woefully out of shape.

Texas running back Wisner, who has been very good, is in the portal. The story is UT offered him $400K for next year but he wants $500K. He is likely to get it. If a good RB is willing to leave UT and can get $500K what does that say about other RB's in the portal? NU better find a way to get more money or they can forget about winning records and championships. I hate seeing this being all about money and the game of college football is being ruined without doubt but that is just how it is right now. Personally I have lost most of my desire to watch college football and see a good player playing for four different teams over a four year period. It sucks!!

The facts are that we had an easy schedule and the same results as last year. One could even argue that’s not progress. We also were blown out by mediocre teams. Nothing to argue there. And our recruiting class is terrible, our high profile player left, we don’t have much to offer players wanting to win, and we extended a coach who makes top tier money and has delivered no results.

Yes this is just football. It means very little to me anymore. It’s like a hobby. I may yell a couple times today but I’m more interested in watching the playoff game. Having 3 young boys and a stay at home wife is far more important in terms of my mental bandwidth than Nebraska football. But I’m here to have honest conversation.

I would probably switch your OL and DL numbers. OL has some younger, untapped athletes that just need coached up - Taumua, Brix, Big Mac, etc. Hopefully that happens now that Uncle Donnie has finally been shown the door.

DL just doesn't have the body types or dudes, in my opinion.

Odem is a 5 star on one service. So, I'll give him 1.3 five star recruits signed, one of which is gone and might have been more trouble than he was worth. The rest is all hopes and wishes and coulda shouldas. A far cry from "multiple 5 star commits"

I could name lots of players to be positive about. I could name having Ekeler or the new line coaches as something to be positive about. Lots of things.
