Realistically, can we make it back to CWS?

My baseball IQ isn't as extensive as football and many of our message board posters seem confident that we can make it back. It seems to take a lot of luck just to make a Super, much less the CWS...I'll hang up and listen.

Supers is where the luck/fortune/breaks become a factor. Getting there should be easy for good teams. Be one of the 16 hosts. You can control that. Hosting is just so important. After the regional all bets are off for any team

As for us lots of potential and we can definitely host. Schedule sux for rpi purposes so not too much room for error. Generally rpi is a huge gauge for the hosts

you need to have a good team

but you also need to be playing really good baseball at tournament time. Teams with dominant pitching will have an advantage over good offensive teams b/c good pitching beats good hitting and pitching doesn't have the slumps that hitting has.

We should be better pitching than we were last year as long as we can stay healthy. Hopefully, we won't need a Girodo type performance from anyone b/c the expectation will be that we have more dominant arms than we had available last year.

Offensively, we lose Renfroe and Frazier. Hopefully, the rest of the lineup will be improved and make up for their loss.

All of that said, we could have a better team than last year and not make it out of the supers. That is the nature of the game.

Realistically, we should be a favorite to make it back to the CWS. Doesn't necessarily mean we'll make it, but we should have a very good team.
