Can't imagine how Domino's and Papa John's are in the same sentence. I live in midtown Manhattan and will take Domino's versus 90% of the local shops

They asked him about deep dish, and it's probably his first time in Chicago and hasn't had a chance to try it out there. He might not have a local place that makes deep dish, or it might just not be something he orders.

When we lived in Cincinnati for a short while, Papa John's was our go to pizza. The garlic dipping sauce was addictive. For seafood, the Outback Steak House was our go to. This was like 28 years ago, and choices were limited in Cincinnati.

I did a business trip to Cincinnati years ago. I remembere it being a boring city.

Lived in Chi-town environs for a couple of years and don’t see the big deal…. Too much dough…. Now NY and specifically Brooklyn? Yeah baby!

Sadly, they don’t really “get it” here in Texas….

Mark Twain was correct about Cincinnati:

There was a heavy metal club called Annie's near the river. It got flooded out and closed in 2009. The most popular night was Disco Night, and that was in 1995.

I see Annie's has been reborn.

"Annie's was Cincinnati's home for iconic heavy metal and hard-rock acts. Think Metallica, Pantera, David Lee Roth and Ronnie James Dio."

We need to see these guys.

Simpson's father works in Robbinsville, home of 2 of the best pizza places in NJ... Delorenzos & Papas. I would hope that dad brought one of them home for him to try.

Maybe I was too optimistic. I took his comment to mean that the only places he’s seen it were at Domino’s and Papa Johns and it was just alright, ie, it’s not as good as NJ thin crust
That's how I took his comment as well. He's too polite to say that deep dish pizza is terrible. But anyone who's had good NJ pizza knows that "alright pizza from Domino's or Papa John's" means terrible.

Me three.
Derek knows.

Clearly just naming the only places that will serve that slop.
Good kid trying to be polite.

Lived in Chicago for 4 years in the late 70s. I do love the deep dish pizza, it's different. But Jersey pizza is still the best.
