Not surprising. They're putting some of the best games on the SECN to put even more pressure on the cable/satellite companies to carry the SECN. This network isn't going to be anything like the Big 10 or PAC-12 networks. It's going to be more like another ESPN2.

I'm just speaking for myself here, but I would seriously consider switching providers, paying a higher monthly bill, and paying some sort of seasonal fee in order to get the SEC network. There's surely some negotiating to be done, but I'll be shocked if the big boys(DTV, Dish, and Comcast) mess around with this for too long. They know good and well that they could lose millions of subscribers by not carrying it on Day 1 of next football season

Yea - it would be horrendous for a cable provider in the Southeast to not have SEC Network day 1.

I can promise you that if Comcast doesn't have the SEC Network by about June 2014, I will be switching carriers. I'm not waiting until a week or 2 before the season when all the installers are swamped. It's going to be real interesting to see how these negotiations go. Historically, negotiations between cable/satellite companies and providers can be a game of brinksmanship. I think it would be a big mistake for the cable/satellite companies to play that game with the SECN.

They (SEC Network)

need to offer it in an online platform, similar to MLB.tv, where it can be streamed. That would be what I prefer. Death to the cable companies/sat providers!

What is this going to mean for the 'rest of the country?' I liive in Virginia.

1) What are the chances that Cox carries SECN here in Virginia? With all the current and former military, this is a huge SEC area.

2) Some of those games mentioned are huge. Will SECN allow ESPN3 to boradcast like they do now or will the o'only' way to see be through SECN?

Anybody got any dish or direct tv coupons? I need a 'contingency plan.'
