So many Sunday nights my Dad would let me stay up past my bedtime so I could stay up to watch Sports Journal.

with people at the State Fair talking about what they like about the WLBT news cast. There was a smooth dude who said, "I likes it when Michael Rubentine tell duh spowuts!"

My feelings exactly, my friend!

When I was in the 9th grade his son played football at JA. We beat the crap out of them.

I will never forget the ending clip (just before "Gunsmoke" rerun began) of the Valley player wiping out under the semi trailer. When Rube ran the show, it was outstanding.

When did Ed Fidler die?

I remember this crew as a kid watching the highlights late on Sunday nights and my mom would tell me to turn off the TV and go to sleep.
Had a chance to meet Mr. Rubenstein a couple of times and he was as friendly and down to earth as any person I had ever met.

RIP

- The opening of the Sunday night show with the clip of the Mississippi Valley player running a post pattern into a cotton trailer
- I remember he found out Cardinal pitcher John Tudor was flying through Jackson and tried to interview him in the airport. Tudor was known as an a** and certainly lived up to his reputation.

Rube a great friend. He dedicated his life to promoting Mississippi sports and will be profoundly missed. I hopewe, at the least, name the museum after him. I have such a heavy heart. It puts all that is going on inour state, on a sports level, in perspective. God rest his soul. He was a great one!

fund raisers, donations, and a dedicated staff to keep the doors open. Hope they can find someone as dedicated and w/ as much vision as he had. I think Boo Ferris' daughter still works there too.

He was great as what he did. He's the only local sports guy I've ever liked and he was good at it.

We also have him to thank for the MS Sports Hall of Fame. If you haven't toured it, you should. It is outstanding.
