Those are big words for any team in the SEC. They may run through the conference schedule but I don't think you can say such an outcome is probable.

I've eaten there several times and I consider it average BBQ. Do State fans worship that place like Corso and Herbstreit do?

But I think Petty's is much better and I eat there far more often than at Dooey's. I have many friends who feel the same way.

that have never eaten BBQ outside the Golden Triangle. I agree with you, it's pretty good, but it's nothing special.

Lil Dooey's is good but if it says anything to you, I order a chicken cordon bleu sandwich from there. THAT is good.

schedule that sets up for them nicely leads to me saying that. They will be no worse than 11-1 going into the SEC title game (unless Bama beats them and makes them stay home...Bama is going 7-1 in the SEC), provided Snead doesnt get hurt. Their SEC road games are Vandy, SC, Auburn, and State. They get Bama and LSU at home.

This is their year to punch their ticket to Atlanta...if Bama beats them this year, Mississippi will never get to Atlanta in football

I think Lil Dooey's was at it's peak- at least for me- in about 1996. Then Corso came and it has become too big.

Little Dooey's is not bad, but I've better BBQ in the state. Leitha's in Hattiesburg is much better.

LD is definitely not what it was about 15 years ago. It is still good but since it changed hands they have cut a lot of corners the previous owners never did. Now it is average at best especially compared to some of the places in Memphis (my favorite of which is Neely's)

The last few (several?) years, its been more legend than anything. Sometime after opening multiple locations and bottling the sauce, the home-grown quality went away. The meat is still good. The sauce, which is half of what BBQ is, is nowhere near what it used to be - presumably because of preservatives for bottling and maybe some cost-lowering methods in the manufacturing process.

Is Petty's the little shack on Highway 12 approximately across the street from Wendy's I think? I tried that a couple years ago and it was some of the worst stuff I've ever had. The meat & sauce had been simmering together in a watered down soup. Nasty. BBQ is supposed to be smoked meat served with sauce on top, not hours-to-days old stew.

They don't have a proven QB and that is huge in this lead. The QB play will cost them a minimum of two league games.

when I publish my predictions in August, but Bama has the easiest SEC schedule...no Fla or Jawja, open week before LSU at home, road games are Auburn, State, and Kentucky to go with Mississippi. SC and Tenn at home. And probably the SEC's 2nd best defense. And the SEC's best WR. Bama is going 7-1 or 8-0

Conversely, LSU has to play @Jawja, @Miss, and @Bamma...plus Fla at home, who has the off week before LSU.

It's possible, but probable? We know you have a giant woodrow for Ole Miss football this year, but slow down on the 11-0 talk. They have question marks just like everyone else.

"We know you have a giant woodrow for Ole Miss football this year,"

No, I had a giant woodrow for them 2 years ago when I predicted they would go 0-8 in the SEC. This year, they are loaded with an very manageable schedule. Bammer and Mississippi have very favorable SEC schedules. One of them is going 8-0 in conference

They also have Houston Nutt for a coach, which insures that they will not go undefeated. The man always, always loses at least one he shouldn't if not more.

They can find a way to 17 up at Vandy next season. I dont see how they go undefeated even if their schedule is the flat out easiest in the SEC and all their tough games are at home. It's Ole Miss and Houston Nutt... if they go undefeated next season then I'll give you props but I just dont see it happening.

Just don't think it's possible, Alabama is much more likely.

and more importantly, Petty's is 145.34 times better than LD, and cheaper (which is very important to me when i have almost no cash halfway through the semester)

their year is next year- having to play @Georgia, @Mississippi, @Bama, and Fla at home who has the week off before is going to give them 3 SEC losses in 2009...

"Gameday's" location selection process is right up there with black helicopters videotaping practices on SEC message boards, and just as bunk.

Those decisions are made as late as the Sunday night before the following game week. In no way, shape or form is there anything more than a shortlist of 5-10 games per week assembled right now.

Those being Auburn '04 and Alabama '08, Ole Miss is at pretty long odds to run the SEC table. 7-1 or 6-2 is much more likely.
