what makes anyone think TT can stop OM's offense?

And that's the thing no one wants to discuss. It's all about Harrell and Crabtree (the Heisman candidates) and what they'll do against our D. Problem is, they only see the field for half of the game. The rest of the time, TTU's defense is going to have to try to stop our offense, which has been clicking pretty well lately.

Texas Tech lit us up for 660 yards passing in 2003, but they still only beat us by 4, and we were a dropped deep ball from beating them because their defense couldn't stop us either. I don't care how many points you score. You have to stop the opposing team at some point to win.

Capital One is much more prestigious

I wouldn't say MUCH more prestigious. It has a better payout, but it's only one step above the Cotton in the pecking order. They're both NYD bowls and have been NYD bowls for forever, and there really isn't a whole lot of difference between the non-BCS NYD bowls.

I don't believe that the SEC has that much better defenses. At least not at the top. The best offensive players right now are in the Big 12 no doubt. Just so happens Florida is the only offense of that caliber in the SEC to gauge against.

Which goes back around and begs the question of Mississippi, because they stopped a Big 12 tier offense like Florida in their tracks, but also at a time when they were sleepwalking, which Texas Tech may well be doing in the Cotton Bowl as well.

You can speculate all day long, but I'm glad we've got 2 solid SEC-Big 12 showdowns to find out. But in the end, I happen to believe Oklahoma's and Texas's defense would outman Mississippi's, even with the Florida game as evidence of the other side. My evidence? An Alabama defense better than Mississippi's, that could not stop Tebow and Co., without their best playmaker. A repeat of that Swamp performance would not happen again.

Envy, you say? Sure, I'd love to have an 8-4 team right now. What fan of a 4-8 team wouldn't? Even you guys were jealous of us last year, even though I'm quite sure you won't admit it.

You're front four are talented and playing at a high level right now, albeit against LSU and the hapless Croomdogs, two teams that had mailed it in before that game.

But you are not better than Oklahoma, pal.
