I didn't mean it, I swear. I actually wanted you to win. But that's where I screwed up.
You see, I was rooting for La Salle until about 3 minutes left. Y'all were up and it looked like the momentum was in your direction. It seemed inevitable that victory was yours. Then I asked myself why I was being such an *******. After all, we suck right now, why not pull for a misipi team? The whole country won't be able to tell us apart anyway, so even better for the both of us. And that Marshall Henderson dude ain't so bad, if you just imagine what he's been through. I can't fathom how hard it must be to do drugs AND play at such a high level. Plus Coach Kennedy is past due for some good things to happen to him. He paid his dues to society after punching that cabbie, why continue to hold that against him?
So I had a moral epiphany with about 3 minutes left, and I started pulling for Ole Miss. Like, truly pulling for them with all of my heart. I imagined that was Mississippi State out there. Then, things started happening. Dumb shots. Bad calls by the refs. A foul on a 3-pointer that goes in. Just, very Mississippi State things. Things that happen to us EVERY F'n TIME we get on a big stage. Then Garland casually makes the Southwest Philly Phloater for the game winner. Over, before I even knew what happened.
Then it hit me. Oh, ****. This was my doing. This was my fault. I pulled for Ole Miss, truly, as if it were Mississippi State. The gods had a choice to make, because I unintentionally played a trick on them. They had to choose whether to allow me to know what it felt like for my team to come through on the big stage, even if for the slightest fraction of time. Either that, or continue their tradition of inflicting heartbreak and misery for all Mississippi State fans no matter the situation. They convened briefly, and ruled "Nay."
Sorry about that.
