I didn't mean it, I swear. I actually wanted you to win. But that's where I screwed up.

You see, I was rooting for La Salle until about 3 minutes left. Y'all were up and it looked like the momentum was in your direction. It seemed inevitable that victory was yours. Then I asked myself why I was being such an *******. After all, we suck right now, why not pull for a misipi team? The whole country won't be able to tell us apart anyway, so even better for the both of us. And that Marshall Henderson dude ain't so bad, if you just imagine what he's been through. I can't fathom how hard it must be to do drugs AND play at such a high level. Plus Coach Kennedy is past due for some good things to happen to him. He paid his dues to society after punching that cabbie, why continue to hold that against him?

So I had a moral epiphany with about 3 minutes left, and I started pulling for Ole Miss. Like, truly pulling for them with all of my heart. I imagined that was Mississippi State out there. Then, things started happening. Dumb shots. Bad calls by the refs. A foul on a 3-pointer that goes in. Just, very Mississippi State things. Things that happen to us EVERY F'n TIME we get on a big stage. Then Garland casually makes the Southwest Philly Phloater for the game winner. Over, before I even knew what happened.

Then it hit me. Oh, ****. This was my doing. This was my fault. I pulled for Ole Miss, truly, as if it were Mississippi State. The gods had a choice to make, because I unintentionally played a trick on them. They had to choose whether to allow me to know what it felt like for my team to come through on the big stage, even if for the slightest fraction of time. Either that, or continue their tradition of inflicting heartbreak and misery for all Mississippi State fans no matter the situation. They convened briefly, and ruled "Nay."

Sorry about that.

This is pretty funny.

But I was just wondering, we're you in a drunken stupor when we beat the number 2 and 3 seeds to make it to the final four in 1996? Or in 1996 2002 and 2009 when we won the sec tournament? Or in 1991 and 2004 when we won the sec regular season? Or in 1995, 1996, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2010 when we won the division? We've won some pretty damn big games. Or are you like 10 years old, spending daddys money and you just weren't born yet?

Your post sounds more like a jealous land sharkin black bear with a failed attempt at comic sarcasm in order to belittle MSU.

So which is it? Drunk, immature, or a dumb *** rebel?

Seriously? Center Z, the guy who brought us the Croom home board game and what is in my opinion the single greatest post in Six Pack history when he gave us the details of his trip to West Virginia? This guy gets the secret rebel treatment? Enjoy the new username.

i didnt even remotely pull for them, but i tried to stay indifferent as best possible. no ****, i watched teams theat matched up well with tsun fall and began to see the sea part all the way to the elite 8. so i made a decision at church this a.m to keep my blood pressure down and just watch the game with no yelling or really pulling for either team. like watching aniumals at the zoo. unless you want to see them fight, most of us just look and observe. i tried, and began geting that feeling in my stomach in those final mins. then it looked like tsun was set to pull it out. i sat back down and relaxed and didnt say a word or move until the game winner. sooooo, i kinda relate!

I did the same thing

Unlike the other guys on here, I have no problem with rooting for Ole Miss in basketball and baseball- mid-level major schools all over the country are very good at basketball and baseball. I was hoping they'd win and go to the Sweet 16.

Problem is, whenever I root for Ole Miss, they lose. Whether it was back before I transferred to State, or whenever they needed to win to help State, or to impress a girl, there were times I rooted for them. However, every time I root for them THEY LOSE. So, CenterZ, I did my part as well.

Love the whole post, but my favorite part is: "And that Marshall Henderson dude ain't so bad, if you just imagine what he's been through. It's so refreshing to encounter a tolerant attitude in this new, Dog Eat Bear age.

Wait a minute here- people go to the zoo to see animals fight?

Wikipedia-less, Be a fan more.

We have plenty to be proud of, but our history has had plenty of bigstagechokitis. It's one of the reasons I hate being ranked (in anything), because I never underestimate our ability to screw it up.

Two years ago, we had a .1 second (one tenth of one second) tip-in keep us from the NCAA Tournament and a repeat title.

Dan Mullen's first season saw us 1st and goal from the one inch line to beat freaking LSU and Tyson Lee started having Tim Tebow delusions.

Only two teams in college baseball have more CWS tournament appearances without a title or runner-up and one of those is in the Big Sky conference.

I mean... for God's sakes, we're part of a fanbase that saw a ******* Egg Bowl-winning field goal go through the uprights, hang in the air and then fly back onto the field.

I love Mississippi State. I love it. My father went to Mississippi State. I was born at Oktibbeha County Hospital. I have a cowbell on my desk at work (here in Texas) and I refuse to buy Duracells simply because they have Patrick Willis as their pitchman.

But that doesn't mean I can't acknowledge the (it feels like hundreds, but it's more like) dozens of times where I've audibly sighed, shook my head, shrugged my shoulders, said "par for the course" and turned off the TV with a few minutes left and worked in my yard.

If you can't find the comedy in losing to Maine and beating Florida in the same season or being the team that broke Northwestern's amazing bowl-losing streak or being the 'first SEC/Division I/FBS team to be beaten by (insert mid-major, FCS, or directional school team here)' or being the team that gave Coach K the all-time winningest record or pissing away the #2 recruiting class in college basketball or any one of the countless other classic choke scenarios that we have endured as a fanbase, then you'll just end up dying young or beating your wife/dogs/children.

Lighten the 17 up, dude...

Edited to Add: Great post Center Z.
