I didn't buy into the preseason hype. But I had hope to go 6 -6. Not sure this is a realistic goal now????

But yeah, it sucks. Because while we “wait til next year”, we will do next year without Rattler, XL, Juice, and many others. So, maybe wait until year-after-next?? Life of a gamecock fan!!!

I fall for it too. But I know myself and know I’m wrong for it, so I don’t get too upset when we don’t hit my lofty expectations. But I really think the future is bright. The future of the OL looks great. Sellers looks like the real deal. Mario impressed the hell out of me. Didn’t know he had that kind of speed. They’re going to have to find a portal WR or 2. More concerned about the D to be honest. We need some dogs on the DL.

This wasn't a preseason top 25 team for a reason. This roster was gutted. Throw in early season injuries and this team definitely doesn't have the horses. Rattler has done a good job masking a lot of the problems but can only mask so much against quality teams.

Everyone on this forum that cares about SC football felt massive hope due to the finish of the year, the pasting of TN in record setting fashion, handling Clemmy at their place, and then playing respectfully against a very good ND team. WE had as much positive MO as you can possibly have. Beamer's image was growing, and it seemed we turned the corner on our ability to attract big time recruits. Then the defections came of the 4 key players that now in hindsight are truly hurting us. WE always had a crap Portal year. it doesn't seem any single portal player has been significant. So, we have all fallen back to earth. Back to what we dread the most. Mediocre at best. Hanging on every play praying we eke out a win and not lose any more momentum or commits at this point. IT will take a hell of an elixir salesman to keep the studs in the fold. Beamer has a tremendous positive mindset, but man it might take an angry approach to get those boys to block like they mean it. I've never seen softer line play and that's from a Carolina Fan. They DL has zero fear or concern when they face us so scheming against us is probably pretty exciting. one dimensional and not very good in that dimension. Oh well. Like the Thread is titled, Wait till next year.

It's hard to see where 6 wins come from.

Any path necessitates beating UF, Vandy and Jax St.

The 6th win has to come from Mizzou (at Mizzou, which is unlikely), A&M (at A&M, unlikely). We get UK and Clemson at home, so maybe we split and eke our way to 6?

That stretch of success was almost a cruel joke put on the fanbase. Those years raised expectations to an unrealistic level when you look at the program's history. Further cruelty was that the four greatest years in gamecock football history didn't result in a single championship.

I can't believe we didn't win the year tennessee broke us with that north reception.... We were the best team in the country that year. The only year we could ever say that. We really were the best, and lost a stupid game cause spurrier would try to not lose rather than try to win... That's why I loved last year's tenn game so much.

I haven't given up on this season. We definitely got the bye week when we needed one. I had basically given up on getting 7 wins after the Florida game last year and we ended up with 8. It's a long season.

Agree. Wouldn’t be shocked to see us go 6-1 to finish. Also wouldn’t be shocked to go 3-4.
