Shane Beamer rules out two for Ole Miss

South Carolina freshman wide receiver Jayden Sellers was just starting to emerge for the Gamecocks when his name landed on Wednesday’s SEC availability report for this weekend’s matchup with Ole Miss.
Sellers and South Carolina special teams standout Buddy Mack III were both listed as doubtful on Wednesday. As of Thursday night, they’ve been ruled out for Saturday’s game.
Tight end and special teams star Maurice Brown II was the lone Gamecock player to leave the Alabama game with an injury and not return. Brown was not listed on Wednesday’s report, meaning he’s expected to be available vs. the Rebels.
“Jayden will not play this weekend,” Shane Beamer said Thursday on his call-in show. “It’s not long-term. I would expect him back for Texas A&M here in a couple of weeks. He won’t be available this week. Buddy Mack won’t be available this week, one of our core special teams players. But Moe is back, thankfully. And Nolan Hay is available, also, if needed.”

The next official update to the report will come later tonight at around 8:10 ET.
Sellers was South Carolina’s leading receiver two weeks ago against Oklahoma and started against Alabama. He has nine catches for 95 yards on the season.
Last season, the SEC approved a player availability injury report system for football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball.

Another update will be released on Friday, followed by a final report 90 minutes before kickoff on Saturday.
SEC school personnel must submit availability reports three days before each football game, with daily updates leading to a final report 90 minutes before game time. For basketball and baseball, reports are filed the night before, with an update on game day.
When schools submit injury reports, players will be designated as available, probable, doubtful, and questionable before game day. On game day, designations will be available, game-time decision or out. The model follows injury reports similar to the NFL.
The Gamecocks and Rebels are set for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday at Vaught Hemingway Stadium with ESPN carrying the action.
