There are so many really really really really really bad teams that you can't gauge the majority of 1a east. Rapp loses to a down w&l team again and someone said they had one of the best defenses in 1a. There is only one football team in the nnd and none in the tidewater.

What is your point? You seem to enjoy saying how poor the football is at this level. Again, it is no different relatively speaking than average to below average teams at any other freaking level. The only difference in quality is larger schools have maybe 1,200 or more kids to choose from while some small schools have 354 (in Rapp's case) or less kids to choose from (half of which are female). So, obviously those average teams from larger schools while crappy at their level should be overall better football teams.

It is well known that Essex is a unusua1A football powerhouse. IMO, as I said at the beginning of the season, they are 3 to 4 TDs better than anyone in 1A (especially if game is played in East). Heck, the LHS coach was brutally honest in the paper preview this week when he said their only chance was to win the turnover ration + 10 and even then, they might not win against Essex.

Congrats to Essex on King George's huge victory over 4A #6 Courtland! Essex beat KG by 20 at KG this year. Should help in the points!!!!

Some schools are built for football success, many are not. Let's look at 3A JM. Football greats indeed, however, in baseball or softball 1A Rapp destroys them so does many Neck schools.....

With Essex being so good, it makes other teams look really bad. These teams are not that bad, they just are nowhere near championship level. If Essex was only winning by a touchdown, I don't think we would be calling these teams that bad. They run good offenses and play hard defense, but the fire power Essex has this year is unreal. No team Essex will face here on out will look like they can line up and smack Essex. They will be the biggest team and the fastest team; question will be, will they be the BEST team when it is all said and done.

Point was referencing a post in another thread about Rapp and how good they are. Your numbers argument, again, doesn't work and I'm not going to rehash the entire argument. It's not even close when you have 9 or 10 schools in the same area who are not just bad they are terrible even among their own division. Queen, Charles city, Mathews, West Point, middlesex, Northumberland, Lancaster ... No matter what level you are playing the eye test speaks for itself. Lancaster normally starts out 5-0 or 5-1 and then poof don't hear much about them. That's why you get poorer record teams beat those teams every year come playoff time. 10-1 mathews (2 seed) a few years ago getting crushed, not just beat, by a 4 win wc team (just one of many examples).

Surprised about kwhs fan because I hear them complain every year how they might not be ready come playoff time because of their weak finishing schedule every year.

True, but it can change from year to year. I could easily make an argument that Rapp was the third best team in 1A last season as they played Essex way closer than Haysi. CB last season was a really good team and could have played with anyone in the west IMO. I know CB is a way different team, but Rapp is not that much different this year. The W&L games doesn't surprise me, even though I did think they would win this time. I just think you are a little tough on our teams. If you go out west, those teams would not kill our teams in the east. Being a bad or good football team all depends on who you are playing. When Essex played JM they looked like a bad football team. I don't think anyone would consider them really really really bad just because they lost to a better team.

I didn't say anything other than liking his post. Really no need to bring me up. Besides I'm not affiliated with KW anymore but didn't see the point of changing my screen name that I've had since 2006. But I still will always be a Cavalier no matter what. Not getting into what other teams have this year anyways but I respect all of the schools in this area as they all give it their all week in and week out. Sometimes we as adults don't realize we are on a board talking about kids and we all should show them the respect they deserve as they read these posts as well. No sense in putting down teams on here when we should be encouraging them no matter what the outcome on the field is

I agree with you and you're probably right. I'm rooting for some improvement. You will never hear me bash an individual kid on this board but I can't promise I won't bash a team - I might tone it down a little. I might also argue that some of these teams do not give it their all each week but that's another discussion - might try on Friday night but during the week maybe not so much and that leads to poor performances...

Less than a Touchdown, IMO, red team plays the best offense to slow them down, I hope they meet in Salem
