Plays all out and rarely takes a play off. Tons of upside. Loves to party though, but who doesn't?
I said this before that i talked to one of his high school coaches and he warned me that he wouldback off his commitmentto us two weeks before it happened and he said he thought that he would end up signing with us any ways. It's a game! When someone is that agethey are indecisive and will usually go with their first choice. Why not? We just graduated our LB,two spots open there, we have a great defense and one he would enjoy playing in. We are closer to home plus TSUN sucks with a one more and done coach.

As of right now, we are supposedly--supposedly--in the driver's seat with Mackey and Jones. Hope it'll pan out.
I'd like to have him but I think our staff wants first Grant b/c as a Juco he is more likely to come in and contribute immediately to a position where we lost 4 seniors. I think he'll be a player.

I never said Ole Miss didn't want him. I would think if Ole Miss had room, they certainly would take him if he wanted to come there. Go back to the flock
Why do you think that is? Why would we ask him to move his visit if we desperately wanted him to commit this weekend?
It's because we're trying to put him on hold because we really, really need another plug and play DT for next year and the candidate for that is Uriah Grant who comes in this weekend. They'd love to still sign P.J. if Grant doesn't come to us but the need is more for someone who can play right away. It's unfortunate, but we put ourselves into that position and we have to live with it.
Our coaches VERY much want P.J. Jones. I hate we're not going to get him...but weighed against other needs they just can't take 2 more DTs and we really need the 1 spot remaining to be a guy who can play next year. It's that simple. If we had any of our top 4 DTs returningfor nextyear I think we'd be desperately trying to get P.J. here this weekend and to commit right now.
It's not a dig at P.J. It's a choice the coaches feel they have to make. Personally, I think y'all would have gotten him anyway. If we don't get Grant then it's really going to look dumb...but like I said I suspect they took into account that P.J. really likes you guys a lot anyway and would likely have ended up in Starkville regardless.

I think what happened is that we asked him to come in next weekend because if the Juco DT we have coming in this weekend commits, then we wouldnt have any room for PJ. I think that's where PJ's quote "They kinda rejected me" came from. Then I think he just said screw it then im committing to State. Tough for us but we pretty much had to do it. Uriah Grant (JC DT) is above him on the board because we need someone who can immediately come in and play next year for our last DT spot. If we had more depth then im sure PJ would have been our number 1 DT target right now
