Obviously you cant read at all since your statement was exactly the opposite of what i said. Because we have NO DEPTH on the defensive line, we need a juco DT. Adding a high school DT who probably wont play next year doesnt help us at all next season. In 3 years of course we would rather have PJ but right now we need someone who will play next year. I swear some of you people are obsessed about the "we didnt want him" crap. Yes we wanted him and yall got him. There I said it. But the fact remains that he was not as much of a necessity as our juco DT is for this upcoming fall. If you cant see that than you might want to stop following recruiting

You have two Redshirt Freshman DT's who've never played a snap of SEC football. You need every DT you can get. And last I checked you are not even 100% sure these Juco DT are locked down.

I'm glad you've accepted that you lost out on him. Kudos for admitting it. I do think that Bennet and Thompson could be good but they're young.

I think what happened is that we asked him to come in next weekend because if the Juco DT we have coming in this weekend commits, then we wouldnt have any room for PJ. I think that's where PJ's quote "They kinda rejected me" came from. Then I think he just said screw it then im committing to State. Tough for us but we pretty much had to do it. Uriah Grant (JC DT) is above him on the board because we need someone who can immediately come in and play next year for our last DT spot. If we had more depth then im sure PJ would have been our number 1 DT target right now
Don't try to spin this.

It's pretty obvious that Nix saw the writing on the wall during his visit this week. They movedthe visit date back because they knewhis heart was with MSU.

They do want Grant, but I think it was a first one to commit typething between Jones/Grant.Obviously, Jones wasn't going to be that guy.

PJ has a pair.

Some of the quotes in the Locke article make me think PJ is a man out of the Pernell McPhee school of crushing bears. It will be nice to see him go "fins up" on some bears in the near future.

loading up on JUCO's for a quick fix to stop the bleeding. If that's the way you guys wanna roll, go for it. We have been down that path before, and it didnt work so well for us. Not to say it won't work , but if you have another bad year it could really be hard rebounding because you have no guys redshirting . The Bears could dig themselves a hole that will be very dark and very deep to get out of. Of course Nutt doesnt care becasue he knows he wont be around after next year anyway if he doesnt win immediately .</p>

If this makes you feel better about your situation, run with it.

But also realize that you aren't the only team in the history of football that has ever signed several juco players in one class. You are taking one incident, that may or may not have been your problem, and applying it to our situation. Have you considered that Bill Synder took KState from the bottom to the top with mostly jucos? OTher programs have done well with them also.

You act as if Jackie Sherill didn't have some deaths in his family and 911 never happenedandinstead these juco recruits ruined your program.

an either/or situation. You take talented high school DL's when you can get them - they are not easy to stock up on. Don't act like football recruiting is as much of an immediate needs based deal like basketball and baseball is.

just because you need immediate help at DL and are trying to sign JC guys at that position it doesn't mean you pass on a talented HS defensive lineman in the same class. Hell, there are several guys currently committed to Ole Miss at other positions that would get bumped in favor of PJ Jones. They are acting as if they don't have room in this class for another HS d-lineman since they need juco help as well. I'm calling bs on that.

A good long term strategy but it is obvious there is a
Fair amount of short term thinking in your program
At the present time.

Everything made sense until that one.

Was losing to South Carolina the first game on tv after 911. It was all downhill from there.

It's an old joke among people here that used to frequent the swan's page.

There were people on that board that blamed 911 on the fall of MSU football in 2001.
