the coaches at EMCC are expecting him to sign with UF but Jacobs says he hasn't made up his mind yet.

This year was the worst as far as questionable calls, but I think the lack of talent is what causes them to begin with. (1) He the patchwork o-line took away some of the playbook, making the playcalling look unimaginative. (2) Whenever he makes a bad call, he's rarely going to get bailed out by his players' talent. (3) When you're overmatched, sometimes you have to take some risks, even risks that are bad risks statistically, in order to give yourself a chance to win.

I think Mullen has proven in the UK and UM games that when the talent matchup is in his favor, he's perfectly willing to go conventional in his play-calling, limit turnovers, and take the win. When the talent match up is significantly in his favor, he may take some risks he "shouldn't", but it's yet to burn us, although La Tech is one where it could have.

We missed on some JUCO OL, that he went after hard. When he missed instead of signing 3 joey trapps, he signed hs sr instead and will develop them.

What Mullen did in year 3 is not that damn important in the scheme of things, but by sacrificing year 3 to have 3 fr OL redshirt to get you to 12 Offensive lineman as a freshman

I mean sure mullen could have brought in 3 joey trapps and played them, but then you get what rebears call cylindrical you would have the same problem in 2 years, but we don't we have 3 fr that were have 3 years to get ready ...mullen knew he was granted time to get the program stable so you can not fault him for taking the quick fix... that would be like saying you would rather win 8 games in 2011 than competing with bama and lsu in 4 years from now.

Now he has a base to depend on and this class will allow him to hit or miss on some key jucos, if he misses he isn't in such a problem because of the 5 rs so we have waiting for PT

Points 2 and 3 are comical. Do you really believe that ****? And as far as point 4, what the 17 does that have to do with anything?

The ball bounced our way a few times last year and this year it didn't. Talent wise, we are on par with last year.

Now going from back-to-back cotton bowls (tm) to 4-8 to 2-10 is an obvious sign of a drop-off.

There was a definite, clear drop in offensive production...

I agree though. Overall, we were a 7-8 win team both seasons...we just didn't get the "lucky" bounces this year that we did last season.

Not that they have been right much lately anyway...

From Volnation: "I have inside info, he's going to be a Vol, we got lucky because he talked to the DT Fletcher Cox at Moo U and asked him was he going pro or not. If Cox is going to the NFL, he would go to Cowville, if he's staying he would sign with us. Cox told him he didn't know yet and that didn't sit well with Jacobs. He will fax in his LOI tomorrow morning to be a Vol"

for 2 reasons..

1. He would be a good pick up for us 2. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the novel of a meltdown after Autry committed

do you think Mullen is going to have equal or better talent than an SEC opponent ? The point is if he can`t just flat outcoach some other SEC coaches regularly6 wins is going to be close to our max every year. All this chronic bitching about talent reminds me of Croom`s first couple of years. People WILL get tired of that excuse.

I've said this ever since we got Mullen and people bitched about his recruiting. We are going to have beat people via X's and O's before we can "out talent" them.
Until we can win the games we aren't suppose to, we aren't going to be able to recruit better than what we are doing now (a couple average years followed by a good year).

I knew we had Autry a week before it was announced- I have no idea which way Jacobs will go right now- but that it wont be Tennessee

he just needs talent that is not outmatched all over the field. He does fine when he has talent that is close, and has won a few when there was more talent across from him. This year looked bad, but the talent on our O-line was bad. Play calling didn't really hurt us outside of Auburn, and even then, the play calling at the end of the game was only an issue because our essentially brand new DC and mostly new linebackers unit got worked by a good offensive coordinator.

Also, I don't think the talent will be a reason for complaint much longer. I'm pretty sure Mullen will be more competitive in recruiting going forward. If a solid OL can be put together from the lat two classes, we'll be in good shape going forward and the recruiting will only get better.

2009 was a great class. 2 guys are already in the NFL (McPhee & White), 2 more (Cox & Banks) are good enough to get drafted this year. Multiple others have potential to make it in 2012 or 2013 (Boyd, Gabe Jackson, Whitley, Cam Lawrence, Bumphis, Skinner). There could potentially be 8-10 guys signed in that class playing in the NFL.

It alsoincluded one of thehighest ratedQBs we've ever signed at MSU and a punter that was about as consistent as you could ask for.

This is a good class, but I don't see it being by far better than 2009.

richie will go to ole miss.

I hear he grew up in a pro-olemiss family and the only reason he wouldn't go there right off the bat was father didn't agree with Nix ...who knows
I do know Richie always kept saying ark st throughout the process, now that ark st is at ole miss, I think we know where he goes
