Chris Lewis, from St. Aloysius is an incredible athlete. I went and watched him play last night. He played at MSU's 7-on-7 camp this summer and won the camp tournament. He is a Senior standing at 6'3 and weighs 205. He benches 305 and can run a 4.53 40-yard dash. He also plays both sides of the ball. He is the team's starting QB (ran for 115 yards last night and a Rushing TD). He also plays DB/LB on defense. He chased down Pelahatchie's monster of a QB and stripped the ball from him last night. Won the game for them in my opinion. I was talking to some of the people in the stands last night and they were talking about Lewis' potential. Two summers ago he trained with Paul Lacoste (All SEC Linebacker for our beloved Dawgs). Lacoste said this kid is the best athlete he has ever personally trained and thinks he is the best all around athlete in the State of MS.
The unfortunate thing is Lewis is stuck in a 1A school. He has a poor supporting cast in his recievers. He threw the ball several times last night and I personally think he didn't make a bad throw all night. His receivers just suck so bad they couldn't hold onto the damn ball. So here is my question....is the Croom coaching staff watching out for this kid? No. He has had no contact from the University since his win at 7-on-7 camp. Why? I understand a 1A school is a 1A school but that argument can only go so far.
BTW, Chris has a younger brother who is in 8th grade. He is 6'2 and weighs 195. Plays defensive end and will join the Varsity team at the end of his JV season this year....there is a lot of talent in this family. Their father was a TE who signed with Bear Bryant in the 70's. Unfotunately his career never got going due to a injury. He was hit by a vehicle while riding his bike on campus the summer before his freshman year.
Anyone heard of or seen this kid?
