Well, we haven't lost anyone this month... that's a positive.
We haven't signed anyone either.... which is a negative.
Hoping we land Amato and Sidun! Saw a fake article that Sidun committed to PSU his morning, so I’m hoping we can get him and have a 1-2 punch in DeLuca and Sidun!
Also, hoping there are some flips being worked out!
Seen an interview he did with a PSU podcaster recently, and of coarse the guy was presenting it like why in the world would he consider committing anywhere else. Sidun did talk more about freestyle than college and of course how great the NLWC is. Seems like this younger crop of recruits are more concerned about post college freestyle or Greco in the case of Raneys, than the college wrestling experience now. That bodes poorly for us, since we basically have a one man show as far as competing with HWC. We do offer the biggest most enthusiastic fan base to wrestle in front of in college, and college is still where the money is at. Taylor was smart to prioritize the RTC and get lucky to have a billionaire funding it. Just using the formula his mentor used to take over wrestling.
Iowa wrestling has to be the most boring "blue blood" program to follow for recruiting. news is far and in between. a single blue chip once a year at most and multiple misses every single year. never a haul.

Really? What school has had more twists and turns in blue chip recruiting the last few years? No one.
they have DeLuca. Sidun is just another blue chip we hear about every year. until they start landing multiple guys Im not too worried about log jams.
every year we hear about all these blue chips looking at Iowa. every year they get one at most. Im talking about good news..not news.
We will need to land prospects at 133, 141, 149/157, 165/174.
With the departure of the Bassetts we need to land Sidun and Amato even more.
Really hope we are after Bachmann and Salah Tsarni. Would love if we built a pipeline to FCA and Tsarni has a high ceiling.

Sidun is a must get! We have a glaring hole at 133 in the future, unless Kale Petersen really kicks it into gear. Would hope we don’t have to rely on the portal and can rely on a recruit that will give us 5 years.

Impressed Sidun is smart enough to not have OSU on his large list. They are loaded at lighter weights and will be jammed up even more when Basset’s commit there. Of coarse he has PSU on the list being a Pennsylvania kid, even though they are now getting loaded at lighter weights also. We have the best opportunity for him, unless we can flip the Raneys, which seems very unlikely. Maybe if Basset commits it will add to the log jam enough to give us a chance in a year or two.
There were rumors of potential good news coming. Let's hope that comes to pass.
I was commenting on your belief that it’s boring. Between the Jesoroga thing, Bassett, Kueter “will be or won’t he…” with football, and several things I’m forgetting, despite being unsuccessful it is anything but boring.
More often than not those rumors end up being good news for someone else.

Yeah, the rumor was there was more a net gain when the Bassetts de-committed. So hopefully this was true and will materialize… hopefully not wishful thinking.
Thanks for the insight! I really hope we are on him so we can get his brother too and build a pipeline into FCA, who’s was the number 1 HS team last year.
Thought I read somewhere they are PSU locks. Can’t hurt trying, like we did with Jax and Bo. Can’t land someone you don’t recruit
While some people just spout off crap thinking they know everything and don't, I appreciate thoughts from anyone with "decent" intel - even if that intel doesn't come to fruition. Everybody forgets that things can change quickly. The Raneys said themselves they were basically Iowa bound until they weren't. Bo even committed then decommitted.
Its the offseason. If you don't want to get into the mud of the recruiting, just wait until fall when you see the roster on a website.
I couldn't agree with you more. Gobblin takes a ridiculous amount of heat for the couple things he posted that didn't end up the way he said(Lee and Bouzakis). But, he doesn't get near enough credit for all the things he was right about. Mind you, even the stuff he said about Lee and Bouzakis may have actually been credible when he said it.
I would take a 1,000 Gobblins over the guys that blast the program for anything and everything, while typed from over 1,000 miles away...

I was more so just ribbing you b.c when it was going down with the Raney's everyone kept telling you to text the guy as if he wouldn't get annoyed by you constantly asking the same question

And again - these recruits are 17 years old and some w/ parents who live their lives vicariously through their kids eyes rather than offer sage advice. So yes - things can change in a hurry when $$$ are involved. I know - Captain Obvious.
Agree with all of this.Info isn't stagnant. In some cases, it can change daily. It got worse in the NIL/Portal age when $$ was introduced.
It's gonna be the same crap every year until the spectrum twins are gone. Was stoked when tom was hired, but for 10 years now its been evident he is one title every 5-10 years. Not what iowa should expect. He just cant get out of his own way in many aspects of his coaching.

Tidbit just for fun…. Hutcherson and his dad would LOVE to be Hawkeyes and have a even taken steps to inquire about future plans(post TnT) to make sure Iowa City is still where they’d like to be.
I feel very, very good about Sidun and Amato(high integrity kids and families) also along with a few surprises in between.
It’s a wild world out there right now…. Coaches have silent commits and their families out running intel and recon missions for them…. Including us. Other programs are going to continue to skirt the rules(now more than ever), but I like where our staff has established themselves in this game with high character recruits and families upcoming.
