There are a lot of question marks in that lineup. I don't think ANY team challenges PSU, but I would say Nebraska is almost certainly more likely to than OkState, if it doesn't end up being Iowa.

125: Spratley had a GREAT NCAA, but he was also rather beatable during the season. 125 has simply been a toss up amongst 8-12 guys the past couple years. Remember, Figueroa didn't even place the following year.

133: Figueroa is now up to 133 after a year I am sure he wants to forget. Rumors of personal issues could also play a factor...

141: Hughes has a lot to prove to even be consider a point scorer at NCAA's.

149: I like Jamison, but he is a fringe AA type at best.

157: Teague has 2 R16's and is coming off a 7-5 season. As a senior, I doubt much changes.

165: Lockett is an absolute stud. But, 165 isn't exactly an easy weight to come into as a TF. I want to see him against someone like Mantanona or even Sparks, before I consider him a top tier AA.

174: Facundo is probably the guy I want to see succeed the most in that lineup. But, he did go 0-2 his one NCAA appearance. Would like to see him AA, but he is much more likely a R12-R16 type guy at this point.

184: Ryder will AA. To me, he is probably the most "sure thing" in the lineup. Still, the top 5 or 6 guys at the weight are legit and Iowa's Ferrari tops that list....

197: I truly have NO IDEA what to expect from Merril. But, I would lean towards a mid AA finish.

285: Doucet is a 2-2 type at NCAA's...

Even at their most high end, I just don't see them over Iowa or Nebraska, without injuries playing a factor.

125: Give Spratley 2nd again 17 points
133: Even if Figueroa returns to form, I can't put him ahead of Crookham, Byrd and Ayala. So, lets say 4th at 13 points.
141: Hughes gets 2 wins and 2 points.
149: Jamison 8th, nets him 5.5 points.
157: See 141 2 points.
165: Lockett 4th and 14 points.
174: Facundo 7th and 6.5 points
184: Ryder 3rd and 15 points.
197: Merril 3rd and 14 points.
285: Doucet R16 and 2.5 points.

That is 7 AA's and 91.5 points. Nowhere REMOTELY close to challenging PSU and not even to the 100 threshold to really challenge Iowa or Nebraska. To catch one of them, they need some significant injuries from Iowa and Nebraska, while also pretty much having their best possible results at every weight...
spot on with all of these.

Figs is undersized at 133

Lockett is going to be great. Unless Facundo magically gets better at getting to legs AND finishing - he ain't AAing. (see: Young, Carter). Doucet sucks. lol

Great breakdown. This year Okie St. will need a couple more transfers to climb into the top 3 as a tournament team. After this year they are going to be a big problem for everyone I'm afraid though.

Thanks. Meanwhile Iowa and even Nebraska have a very strong nucleus of 3-4 guys that are almost guaranteed to score a bunch of points. Ayala coming off 2 Finals in a row should be 17+. Caliendo the same. Ferrari, maybe even more. On top of that, Kennedy wants absolutely nothing to do with Haines, but he absolutely can and even SHOULD beat everyone else at that weight. They still also have their question marks like Kueter coming back from surgery and how all the transfers assimilate (Peterson, Bailey, Williams? and Endene). But, all are definitely capable of AAing. That leaves Voinovich as a complete wildcard. Their high end is absolutely over 100 points.

Nebraska has Hardy, Taylor, Minto and Ferrari as pretty much similar high end point scorer types. But, where I think they fall behind Iowa is they have a couple full sized holes at 125 and 174. Having to score with only 8 guys makes it really hard. You can't have any injuries and survive (See Iowa last year). Still, Van Dee, Lamer, Allred and McDanel can all reach the podium and get them over that 100 mark again for the 2nd year in a row!

Swiderski 149 to start the year I heard Jamison could miss time early in the season with an injury. Time will tell but Casey 149 this year wouldn't shock me

Swiderski will be the 149. I know the staff wanted Jamison back down at 141. So with this injury, I don't see how he catches up to Casey.

No. no he can't. He's been healthy plenty. he can't finish leg attacks.
Oh, OK. I'll take your word as gospel. You don't know **** if you don't think Carter Young can challenge Cael Hughes at 141. If Jamison is injured and or can't make 141 any longer, Young will most certainly be in the mix.

two things can be true at once.

Carter Young can and should battle at 141 with Cael Hughes. That doesn't mean he's capable of AAing. Call me when he can finish leg attacks ever.

IMO, Jamison is just a better wrestler and will be the rep. Again, JMO.

He just got hurt and will be out until January. It will be interesting to see if he can catch up to Swiderski by then.

Swiderski is a ridiculously hard worker - I think he's going to be better.

In his college career he has beat Sammy Alverez, Casey Swirdirski, Cael Happel multiple times, and Jake Bergland. Not to mention a dozen or so NCAA qualifiers like Hines, Realbuto, Titus, Fernandes, Gioffree ect...I won't even bring up his freestlyle hit list which is damn impressive.
If you want to say that you don't think he would AA, I can live with that. IMO if he's the guy for Okie st at 141 or 149 and healthy he has at least a 50/50 shot at reaching the podium. He is certainly capable of reaching the podium if healthy.

He's been healthy. and no. I don't see it. He can't put multiple wins together because of his inability to finish shots. You've named some pretty decent wins, fair enough. But none of them are top of the line wins - with Happel being the highest finisher at 5th.

And you're being a bit obfuscating - because you're leaving out some of his losses.

Willie McDougald, Jesse Vasquez, Gabe Willochel. During his redshirt season (2024) he lost to a d2 guy.

He's a top 20 guy, will always threaten some one ranked 10th or so, but is not capable of AAing. And he's now a 5th year senior. He is exactly who he is.

Love Angelo Ferrari, he's gonna be a great Hawk. I expect him to contend at 184 certainly, but he and everyone else are gonna have to go like hell to beat Max McEnelly of the Gophers. What a LOAD at 184 and impressive first season that dude had! He's a handful and a serious problem. (insert Jim Gibbons quote here .....🙂)

He took Keckeisen to the wire and lost in OT in one of the best winning scrambles in NCAA history from my viewpoint. Anyone that can do that is the favorite the next year until proven otherwise. Hope Angelo can prove he's that guy. We shall see. Should be a fun ride for all of us to watch.

My friend, I was referring to challenging PSU in the future, but not for another year or two...26 and 27 classes should pull Okie close. I'm still going to say top 3. I think DT will have a couple of those marginal boys tourney ready. And like you I would like to see Facundo make some noise...against everyone but PK. :)

When was the last time Iowa scored 100 points or the top 3 teams all having 100. 65-75 usually get you 3rd. IMO . Ryder will make the finals against the Minnesota kid he has just better coaching at his weight. Ferrari look solid in the little we saw him but needs offense.

Did anyone see the video of Tom Brands calling Joe Bachmann? That would be an amazing pipeline into FCA! Plus, the younger brother is just as great.

What are our chances with Bachmann?

they have Villasenor, Ramirez, Zinkin, Forrest, Raney, Raney, Vega, Robideau (all 4 years eligibility) for 5 spots - then sakomoto, mccomas, hughes, jamison, swiderski, spratley in the same weights all with multiple years of eligibility - and I am certain I am forgetting some people

But he grew up a big OkieSt fan, even before Taylor arrived. He was wearing OkieSt headgear before he came into HS… this isn’t shocking at all, plus he moved to Stillwater for HS.

Hopefully we can find the kids that grew up a Hawkeye fan in the class of 2027 and beyond.
there have been so many "grew up Hawkeye fans" that never signed over the last 15 years its almost the KOD.

Did anyone see the recruiting video for Joe Bachmann? He said Iowa surprised him the most and was excited for the call. He did seem really excited about Missouri because of Maple.

Do we have any chances with the Bachmanns? I know we are all wanting Sidun and Amato but Bachmanns would be a MASSIVE get. Especially with the FCA pipeline.

I saw the video. I was caught off guard he mentioned Mizzou and Maple. Pleasantly surprised even. I would guess he’s familiar with Maple and how the program operates and Mizzou was in on Adam Waters his teammate until the end. I doubt we get him, but I’d be glad if we did.

At least Tom called him that night instead of an assistant the next day. Hopefully this shows him we are serious. I wasn’t surprised when he said we were the biggest surprise contact. I have read in different places he’s almost a done deal for PSU, so I was really surprised his favorite call was Missouri. If he was an Askren kid I wouldn’t be surprised. I guess it shows he’s willing to look at the Midwest, which gives us alittle hope. Need to get him in for an official. We were able to get Jax in for an official, and sounded like his family was much more impressed with us than they thought they would be. He was just too entrenched with Oklahoma state already. Sidun may be a better bet, but both would be nice. That’s the way PSU and now Taylor do it, so why can’t we. I never would have thought Taylor would get Jax and both Raneys, and probably Bassett in the light and light middleweight area in the same class, with good talent in that range already. I was very invested following that 2026 class because it was loaded and we were supposed to have a great chance at a huge class. Ended up being a bust. I’m afraid to be that optimistic about 2027 now, but if we don’t land the class we should of last year, we are screwed. Still can’t believe we lost one of the best talents to come out of Iowa in a long time to Taylor.
