Second the need for a mod. The old site became 10x better once the mods cleaned out some of the worst offenders
There is one, even if he/she isn't very active. Part of my back and forth with Mr. Nicolls was removed...

Thanks for the words @MSU158…. That’s the way I’ve always approached these boards. With optimism!

Tidbit just for fun…. Hutcherson and his dad would LOVE to be Hawkeyes and have a even taken steps to inquire about future plans(post TnT) to make sure Iowa City is still where they’d like to be.

I feel very, very good about Sidun and Amato(high integrity kids and families) also along with a few surprises in between.

It’s a wild world out there right now…. Coaches have silent commits and their families out running intel and recon missions for them…. Including us. Other programs are going to continue to skirt the rules(now more than ever), but I like where our staff has established themselves in this game with high character recruits and families upcoming.
We need a big 2027 class now that 2026 fell apart. I hope you’re right about Sidun/Amoto and Hutcherson in 2028. I thought Bo was a high integrity kid also, until he left us saying we aren’t good for him as a person and Christian because we wouldn’t break the rules for him like Oklahoma State will. Hopefully we land these guys and they are more like Spencer and Kem with integrity. TNT did really show following the rules is more important to them than just winning when they let Bo, Melvin,Keegan walk and then dismissed Gabe shortly after.

He just became my first ignore.
You're too patient...I started thinning the herd before we even went live here.

Is the door on Bo 100% closed? I thought he may have committed somewhere by now. Hutcherson family owns a big python snake business. That would fit well with Iowa Wrestling. Anyone know why Amato and Sidun didn't wrestle at Fargo? Would have loved to see them.

I’m sure that door is closed and shut for good… I wish it wasn’t though; but I may be wrong (hopefully).

I was hoping to see Sidun and Amato too, maybe they are still recovering from their injuries.

I don't think Brands would entertain the possibility anymore, the Bassetts have likely burnt that bridge beyond repair. I think he is headed to Okie State, seen a pic of him celebrating and shouting out for his Bishop McCort teammate Jax Forrest big win.

If they came back, it would be foolishness to not consider it. Not saying they should do it, but at least consider it, especially since it would be at a lower price now. If they're coming back, hat in hand....definitely talk to them. I don't think either side would make that first move (nor do I think Iowa should make that first move).

The cesspool is the only place talking about the Raney bros coming back to Iowa from what I’ve seen. Bo, too.

Spoken like a TRUE scholar my friend. You and about 10-15 others on board are the only posts I read - keep the info coming!

The only Raney news you'll get will not originate here, but elsewhere if they decide to turn

We have a great lineup this year. Next year just needs a couple spots. We're in good shape.

Sidun was still coming back from the hand injury that knocked him out of the end of the PIAA season. By time he was cleared to wrestle he missed all of the Fargo qualifiers.

Not sure on Amato

Anyone mind sharing the origin story? I know it had something to do with Assad
Abe was on his visit with his parents. I believe it was a Saturday as not all of the campus buildings were unlocked. A U OF I employee (whom follows wrestling closely) saw the Brands and Assads attempting to get in a building. So he went over and unlocked it for them. He then proceeded to hang with the group during the tour. Abe committed shortly there after and when interviewed said something like “Iowa is the only place the janitors know who you are “

You must expect way more out of Oklahoma State this year than most, I'm not even sure they get a trophy in 2026. PSU, Iowa and Nebraska should all be ahead of them. I'm not sure they'll even finish higher than Iowa State.
According to Wrestle Stat you’re spot on.
Their rankings can be head scratchers because of the algorithm they use, however they aren’t far off concerning Okie State. https://www.wrestlestat.com/d1/rankings/tournament

I predict Okie to be top 3 by year end. Younger guys will move up the rankings IMO.
I just want to see Iowa make it to NCAA’s with ALL 10 starters 80+% healthy and actually maintain that throughout the tournament. If that happens, OkState isn’t finishing better than 4th. Nebraska is going to be very hard to beat again this year and Iowa should still finish solidly ahead of them if they manage the above.

Now in a year or 2, if the recruiting continues, staying ahead of them is going to be a very difficult challenge…

I'm with you WRT the 10 starters. We need a break! I hope you're right about Okie, but I think DT is going to have them ready with the youngsters and the transfers. And even if Iowa can't battle PSU it will nice to see someone do it, even if it is Okie.

There are a lot of question marks in that lineup. I don't think ANY team challenges PSU, but I would say Nebraska is almost certainly more likely to than OkState, if it doesn't end up being Iowa.

125: Spratley had a GREAT NCAA, but he was also rather beatable during the season. 125 has simply been a toss up amongst 8-12 guys the past couple years. Remember, Figueroa didn't even place the following year.

133: Figueroa is now up to 133 after a year I am sure he wants to forget. Rumors of personal issues could also play a factor...

141: Hughes has a lot to prove to even be consider a point scorer at NCAA's.

149: I like Jamison, but he is a fringe AA type at best.

157: Teague has 2 R16's and is coming off a 7-5 season. As a senior, I doubt much changes.

165: Lockett is an absolute stud. But, 165 isn't exactly an easy weight to come into as a TF. I want to see him against someone like Mantanona or even Sparks, before I consider him a top tier AA.

174: Facundo is probably the guy I want to see succeed the most in that lineup. But, he did go 0-2 his one NCAA appearance. Would like to see him AA, but he is much more likely a R12-R16 type guy at this point.

184: Ryder will AA. To me, he is probably the most "sure thing" in the lineup. Still, the top 5 or 6 guys at the weight are legit and Iowa's Ferrari tops that list....

197: I truly have NO IDEA what to expect from Merril. But, I would lean towards a mid AA finish.

285: Doucet is a 2-2 type at NCAA's...

Even at their most high end, I just don't see them over Iowa or Nebraska, without injuries playing a factor.

125: Give Spratley 2nd again 17 points
133: Even if Figueroa returns to form, I can't put him ahead of Crookham, Byrd and Ayala. So, lets say 4th at 13 points.
141: Hughes gets 2 wins and 2 points.
149: Jamison 8th, nets him 5.5 points.
157: See 141 2 points.
165: Lockett 4th and 14 points.
174: Facundo 7th and 6.5 points
184: Ryder 3rd and 15 points.
197: Merril 3rd and 14 points.
285: Doucet R16 and 2.5 points.

That is 7 AA's and 91.5 points. Nowhere REMOTELY close to challenging PSU and not even to the 100 threshold to really challenge Iowa or Nebraska. To catch one of them, they need some significant injuries from Iowa and Nebraska, while also pretty much having their best possible results at every weight...
