Is Caludio Torres pretty good? I dont know much about the kid but would think he's probably currently the future plan at 174

Torres is an intriguing prospect, but his accolades don't say slam dunk starter as a greyshirt freshman. There needs to be/will be a plan B.

And that might account for why he grey shirted this year. They wanted more time to evaluate him and this gives them an option of bringing in a 1 year transfer.

National Signing Day today!

Saw Mocco signed today! I wonder how it will work out with Peter Mocco. He is 2 years apart from his brother. Maybe Take a gap year then redshirt and then there only be one year of overlapping ?

Or will he be a 197? Or is it like the Merrill brothers (Cody and Coby), who were never going to go to the same school.

2028 should be a good class too! Fred Bachmann, Sean Kenny, Maybe Peter Mocco, and targeting Hutcherson.

Chances and thoughts on my wish list;

2027:
Dhabolt

2028:
Sammy Sanchez
Mario Hutcheeson
I see the Sanchez kid is 113, same as younger Kenney. With Paul Kenney planning on 133, basically you have those 3 battling for 125/133. If Sanchez is a generational talent like some of you hint around to, then you have the 2 brothers battling for a spot. Would the winner of the spot stay if the other transferred? If Sanchez is that good, this won't happen, because he likely ends up with Taylor or PSU.

Not the same situation at all the Mocco brothers live in the same house and get along.

I didn’t realize everyone grows at the same rate and you’re able to predict it. 🤷‍♂️

What can I say, it’s a gift😉. My point was it’s tricky when you recruit brothers who are equally good, and one decides to transfer, the other one you really need may also leave. It sounds like kenney’s expect to stay small, like Deluca. Maybe Sanchez will grow into the Bachman’s weight classes. If he’s a can’t miss then ya, you get him and take your chances of gaining one and losing two, or we work PSU magic and somehow find a way to spread them all out in the line up and over time. Wish this kid was in the upper middle or upper weights though. Seems like we are really loading our 125-157 end.

Just don't be one of those guys who takes a kid's HS weight (especially when in their first 2-3 years of HS) and effectively plugs them into that weight for college. Those guys are the worst.

Make that 125-165 given the growth trajectory of these guys. And, I am very interested in Torres. Several Club coaches I respect indicate he'll be a good one.

Right, just pointing out the double edge sword when recruiting brothers. A good way to have an idea what weight a young guy might be is to look at both sides of his family and who they are built like. This is why kenney’s and Deluca are confident they will be career light weights.

A guy on twitter told me another name to look out for in the 28 class that could end up at Iowa is Camryn Howatd out of New York. I haven't seen his name mentioned as linked to Iowa anywhere else so thought I'd ask on here. Sanchez & Hutcherson are two others he brought up but I've seen them talked about before. The guy is a Rutgers fan so no idea how or if he actually knows anything about Iowa recruiting

He trains with KD who trained Duke . I could see Penn st for him. Now they might be loaded around his weight but kids that good usually don't worry about that stuff. Will Iowa recruit him for sure they will

Howard is a freak and he only in 10th grade, looks like he is 20. The Hawks should be on him full bore

Right? We need to start offering a year of hunting/fishing/wood chopping activities to get some wiggle room on staggering our studs into the lineup.

Right? Everyone knows you have to take the square root of the dad’s weight and divide by pi.

Out of the top 15 which guys do you think Iowa is in the best spot for outside of Kenny & Bachmann of course? Probably far too early tell
We would need to target heavier mid weight kids. So 174-184.

Cam Howard is KD, so I’m guessing he chooses PSU…

Jayden O’ Farrill to PSU or VTech.

Ultimately I can see PSU landing Howard, Farrill, and Sammy Sanchez.

I would target Justus Heeg and Mario Hutcherson. Of course would love to still target Cam Howard, Farrill, and Sammy Sanchez.

As a Hoosier I love Staples and Hazelette (#regionProud). Staples was great to see at the state tournament and Hazelette is extremely athletic for his size but we have Mocco, who teached him. Just like these 2 prospect and Iowa will probably only recruiting Staples.

I know it’s EXTREMELY early, but does anyone know if we have any ties with any of these top recruits?
