Sounds like Melvin Miller is going to to reclassify and go to VA Tech next year with Bo Bassett. Would have slotted in perfectly at 165 for the hawks. What could have been.
I don't believe in breaking any rules if it was really that black & white. However, I have a hard time thinking that if someone was a little more tactful that he could have handled that situation better and deescalated the family from leaving.

They may pass us up next year already. If Bassett would have just waited a few months to *****, the rule would have been gone. I don’t think his parents wanted him here and this was a way to overplay their hand in a way to rationalize to the kids why they need to decommit. Mom seemed to be in love with Vtech on social media after their initial visit. I notice in interviews now, Tom will always make a point of saying we follow the rules if the situation is right.

Man it is hard to like this program right now. Easy to think how we could have had bassett and Miller in the lineup next year and have some hope. It seems we can not have nice things.
And the raneys. In a matter of 6-7 months, things have really trended in the wrong direction. There was a lot of hope at one point.

True but both are hammers which helps smooth out growing pains with Ludington and potentially continued underperformance by Bailey.

IDK, landing 5 pretty good recruits for 27 and getting a headstart on 28 with 2 more is definitely a move in the right direction.
Those guys are a year and a half, at minimum, away from potentially wrestling meaningful matches for Iowa.
Nice recruits to have, but things could get much worse before they step on campus.

Anybody know anything about the recruitment of Jaimon Mogard from here in Ames? Nationally ranked 150lb freshman who won the Ed Winger yesterday. Could be a top 10 p4p in 29. I know its super early but have heard he's a Hawkeye fan even though he lives in ames
He is at 144 now.
Could see him winning 2-3 iowa state titles but not certain he will ever be a top 10 p4p kid.
I am sure a lot of that was based on him winning the us open in fs in 15u last spring. Unfortunately, he came up short in both fs and greco at fargo in 16u. Wrestled at preseason nationals and got beat and didnt place at super32.
Hes tough but p4p top 10 is a pretty tall task. He is a legit threat to win state this year and as i said, i would be surprised if he doesnt win 2-3 before he is done. Definitely a D1 prospect imho.
