For those that have seen our current list of commitments play in person or on film, which ones, if any, do you think could step on the field and help us immediately next season?

CJ Johnson will play early simply due to the fact we'll be in need of bodies at LB next year. Darius Slay (JUCO) will play. I'm sure a couple of the WRs will get an opportunity as well next year. Other than those, I'd say it's a TDB situation.

I have not watched any of them play, but i will take a stab at it.

In no particular order

1. CJ Johnson
2. Dee Arrington
3. Nick Brassell
4. Joe Morrow
5. Darius Slay
6. Jermaine Whitehead

Brassell - depends on the position he plays. If it is WR, he could probably help immediately. If DB, he may be behind Whitley/Mitchell/Banks/Broomfield but still potentially get in the rotation.

CJ Johnson and Dee Arrington could both factor in at LB. They are both physically mature and that is a position of need.

Joe Morrow - based on size alone and our lack of a big WR could be a factor.

Darius Slay - JUCO CB, should factor in the CB rotation.

I don't think any of the RB commits will play right away (Robinson, Scott, Price). None of the OL (which is normal), nothing at DL (yet - I am talking to you Leon Mackey), Whitehead probably has the skills but is at a stacked position.

I really hope Johnson and Arrington come ready to play, but I am encouraged by the play of Hunt and C. Hughes, so hopefully we have some options at LB already on the roster. I wish we could find another C. White in JUCO somewhere.

It is hard to predict these things. I really thought Carr was going to make an impact as a freshman like Bumphis did, but we have yet to see that.

that we have some red-shirts that will prevent some of the true freshmen from coming in and playing. We have some very good players sitting out this year. However, the true freshmen that I believe will be hard to keep off the field are:

CJ Johnson and/or Dee Arrington at LB. Johnson is a man and if he arrives in time for spring practice he could be pushing for a regular spot in the rotation.

Nick Brassell because he is a down field threat that we do not have (either currently playing or red-shirting). He is not good on the routes but will probably be played on specific plays similar to Heavens last year and Carr this year.

Slay will probably rotate at CB for a physical presence.

Any JC linemen or LB/DEs could easily work their way into the rotation.
