I've heard some OM folks saying Thames and Bumphis as well. Not that I believe em, but I hadn't heard one way or the other.

Who has the better recruiting info, Swan Lake or BDJ? Was thinking about joining one or the other.

And thanks for the info.

From what I can tell, Skinner and Slay are iffy while Cox, Boyd, and Thames may need more on their score. Paul Jones at BDJ.com has done a good job with this.

They both report the same info, generally within five minutes of each other. The Lake has a better (free) database but members that make you want to go postal. BDJ does a better job of giving the entire story and keeps things relevant to MSU. My money goes to BDJ and I've been on both.

My brother has a membership to GP's and I've read some comments from some of the people over there. They have a large group of folks who annoy the hell outta me.

a cumulative deal. Its not like you have to go in an make a 17 on one try. I think you can piece it together.

may be different than IHL butMSU only accepts composite ACT scores. Some schools "superscore" ACT for scholarship purposes, but State doesn't do that either.

I think the NCAA requires a 68.

From the IHL website:

Academic & Student Affairs

Admission Standards

You can be admitted to a Mississippi university by meeting any of the following criteria:
Complete the College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) with a minimum 3.2 high school grade point average (GPA) on the CPC; or

Complete the College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) with a minimum 2.50 high school GPA on the CPC or a class rank in the top 50%, and a score of 16 or higher on the ACT* (Composite); or

Complete the College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) with a minimum 2.00 high school GPA on the CPC and a score of 18 or higher on the ACT* (Composite); or

Satisfy the NCAA standards for student athletes who are "full-qualifiers" under Division I guidelines; or

Students who do not meet the above criteria are nonetheless eligible for admission. Such students must participate, however, in an on-campus placement process at the university of their choice.

that's right. you take your best math score on all ACTs that you took, best english score, best reading score, etc. and combine all the "bests" and apply the sum total to the sliding scale in relation to your GPA of NCAA approved "core courses."

Thames will not. He's going to EMCC...keeping close to Starkville for when he gets done. You'll miss him the next two years, but will be able to sign him, assuming you want him when he finishes EMCC.

Bumphis will make it.

Cox will.

Haven't heard on Boyd.

...he has a 2.5 and a 16 on his first shot at the ACT. He needs an 18 on the ACT just to be sure. His Uncle, Marcus Thames (re: Detroit Tigers), is paying for a tutor. He will make it. This past summer, he went to summer school to bring up some grades in his core courses.

Bumphis has already qualified. Cox should make it. Boyd should make it as well.

I was told he has already been in alot of contact with EMCC. Of course, that could be false, but I don't believe it is.

I think State will do a very good job of getting the impact players from MS in school this year, such as Russell, Bumphis, and Boyd. I don't know anything about the Perkins or Pinkins or whatever his name is, but I watched his video a few weeks back and he's a natural for the spread.
