The other day the coaches recruiting territories were posted. Does that mean that each coach is responsible for gathering player info and initial contact in that area or pretty much recruiting that territory no matter the player/position? I was thinking the other day- if I was a player, I'd want to get to know the coach that would actually be coaching me, not some other position coach.

I think usually the player gets recruited primarily by the guy recruiting his territory, and if they are high enough on the priority list, the position coach for their position usually gets involved heavily too. I think it depends staff to staff though. The territory thing is mainly done for budget purposes. It doesn't make sense to have all your coaches traveling the entire Southeast visiting prospects and scouting prospects. It makes more sense for them to take care of a region.

but phone calls, text messages, and letters- I would assume cover the majority of conversation between a recruit and coach. These "could" be done by any coach.

I'm pretty sure you're right- but I really don't understand why it has to be that way.

I agree too, and if I'm a QB being recruited by the DL coach, it may not do a whole lot of good for me. Like I said though, for the guys they really want, I do think they try to get the position coach involved a lot more at least with the phone calls and such, so that the player is effectively being recruited by 2 assistants.
