I just saw a notification about some cornerback we are in the hunt for and it triggered a thought.

When we hired leach, the assumption was that we would start recruiting QBs and WRs at a much higher level and recruiting on defense may drop off a little.

Now that the O is struggling and the young D is kicking butt and taking names, will we see a shift in recruiting talent back to the D side?

Hope our recruiting isn’t that fluid, but I’m not sure we’re the easiest sell for either side of the ball right now. Although, we can pretty much guarantee immediate playing time to any OL prospect.

While that is a reasonable assumption for you, it's a bad assumption for Leach (if that is his plan). The idea is to upgrade talent everywhere (or just specifically like you say) but not to downgrade. Downgrading would be a failure.

But to answer your question, no, recruiting doesn't just change that quickly. Relationships are made over the course of years. There's a reason Deion Smith is going to LSU even though theoretically he'd be great in an Air Raid.
