Steve is reporting that tomorrow could be exciting (3-4 commitments) for State. Anyone else hearing anything besides Staley?

Aeris Williams and Grant Harris are both going to be on campus tomorrow. Would be big if they both committed.

It's not likely to be Aeris Williams

He's currently in Tallahassee visiting Florida State. Brewster has done a good job on him and it's not a lock that Williams signs with us.

He has had a really good showing at FSU too. He had a rough camp last week at Ole Miss and reportedly couldn't get above a 4.8 but he ran like a 4.46 at FSU. Must've been hurt in Oxford.

Yep. WE are MS State. We don't get a lot of early commits, our fanbase screams, "Oh my God! We don't have any early commits! We're getting killed in recruiting!" We do get some commits, our fanase screams, "Damn! They're gonna flip on us and leave us stranded late in the game!" WE ARE the most pessimistic fanbase in the country.

He wasn't hurt. Something else entirely.

But FSU will be a problem with this guy.

Aeris will be a dawg. Even though Brewster is putting a great effort toward him he will stick with State in the end.

Some of our pessimism seems justified. The gurus always rate our recruiting towards the bottom of the SEC, and based on the results our our last 5 or 6 games last year, they appear to be fairly correct.

I don't think talent was the only reason for the late season collapse...

Yeah -- let's find something negative that happened and base our entire point of view on that -- instead of looking at the big picture**

Leave that to NCDawg, engie...he's really good at finding and focusing on the negative.

Nationally our rankings haven't been that bad, just so happens most of the schools in the SEC is are ranked above us. And that is where we play and our record generally reflects how the rankings shake out. So yes.........some pessimism is justified.

I usually having a hard time buying into criticisms of schemes run by a staff as a reason for poor performance. Its too difficult to listen to the criticism and go watch a game and see where its actually happening, or alternatively, where something else would work better.

But last year, you could go out and see us sitting in a very deep two deep zone and having the other teams throw 15-20 yard passes over the middle in front of the safeties over and over and over again and easily figure out that it wasn't working. We took no risks and were still conistently scored on.

Don't give me this ********. We have been in the bottom third of the SEC in recruiting every single year since Mullen got here. Even though we might be ranked in the top 25 in recruiting, it's how we relate to the SEC that matters. I am optimistic about out class this year but there's a 99% chance we end up (once again) in the bottom third. I want us to consistently be in the top half of the SEC. Until that happens I will always worry about recruits flipping and losing people to schools like FSU, Auburn, and UM. ETA: I think we have the facilities, coaching, fan base, and talent pool to be in the top half every single season. For some reason, we are not doing it. We can do this but everybody from the mechanic in Lucedale that wears an MSU shirt- to the President of the University had to be in on this. And we CANNOT rat on ourselves to the NCAA. And Bracky needs to be replaced.

I think with our current class we shouldn't be too worried, unless Southern Miss and ULL starts making a strong push at some of our guys.

I wonder what it's like to be a legitimate Alabama fan all the time. Like what if your parents went there, you grew up watching them, and you ended up attending and graduating from there? A non-bandwagon, legitimate fan. Do they have stress in their lives? What do they complain about? Anything? Are they more or less likely to act out on their spouse? They don't have to complain about recruiting. While we're doing that, do Alabama fans use this time to come up with all their good jokes about MSU and the bottom teams in the SEC? They sure have a lot of free time to waste.

MSU could hire Sean Payton as head coach, sign the reincarnation of Johnny Unitas, win 3 straight national championships, cure head trauma in football, and I would still be a pessimist about Mississippi State athletics. You know that feeling you had when MSU was 7-0 this year, or maybe that feeling immediately following the blowout win in the Gator against Michigan? Maybe not Saban's first Alabama NC, but his other two... I imagine that's how their fans feel after their yearly championship. Being an MSU fans means a 5-7 year is less than half as bad as a Bama fan's 9-3 year. "5 wins? So close! 3 more of these kinds of seasons though and we should fire Dan." vs their "WE DIDN'T WIN 10 GAMES?! 111111777777! WE CAN'T EVEN WIN 10 GAMES DURING A REBUILDING YEAR!"

Surely MSU football will create the next John Grisham too. Alabama football facilitates zero creativity.

Somewhere in Mississippi there is a young MSU fan who reads this board daily and discusses the contents with his school buddies. Sixpack is molding a young mind on conspiracy theories, deception, and high quality drama entertainment.
