I was over there trying to straighten them out and get them back to reality about sports. Once they couldn't prove me wrong they had to go to the academics. They said why do you have to always bring up sports. I thought that was funny because they was trashing us saying they are better in everything. Then I said like what? Baseball?basketball?girls softball? Girls basketball? Football?(which I did say it's been pretty even lately, not the kind of superiority they think). They couldn't say ****. So they had to start on the academics and the town of Oxford. Too funny. They have serious problems, so much hate for someone who isn't their rival. I told them that kind of hate can't be good for you. You can def tell the difference in the kind of people that goes for each school. Msu has more civil, kind hearted, good people. Tsun has the more cussing, bad mouth, hate filled people. I'm so glad I didn't go to school there

They're better at academics? Um, okay. State and Ole Miss are basically equivalent academically. Last I checked our incoming students had slightly higher test scores too.

Agreed. It's a ridiculous argument. I'm pretty sure both schools accept a minimum of 18 on the ACT. If you want to major in liberal arts, journalism, or go to Med school, you go to OM. If you want to be an engineer, a scientist, a Vet, or an architect, you come here.

i know

its just something stupid they try to say to make them feel superior to us. You can get a good education at both schools. They have their specialties. I would like to see state open up a med program being they have a vet program. I know its different but it would make sense. I dont know how a school goes about that but I'm sure it would really bring the enrollment up helping us get to the top tier of the sec.

Maybe don't say "they was" in a thread discussing academics. You're making us look bad. HTH.

And the entrance requirements are tough.

I wouldn't break down the specialties like that. Clearly we have our respective specialties, but there is substantial overlap. State produces a lot of future doctors and lawyers. We have strong liberal arts grads as well--our recent Rhodes Scholar among them. And I know some great engineers and scientists who went to UM.
