Offensive Line: Templeton Hardy (thought he was a DL, but is listed on the roster as OL), Tobias Smith, Joshua Jackson - did all of these guys redshirt? They all came with fairly strong acclaim.

DL: Trevor Stigers - did he redshirt?

Josh Jackson didn't redshirt. Stigers, Hardy, and Smith all redshirted

The guys you listed were all red-shirted by an alleged coach who, by early September, knew he was in deep trouble. You saw what sort of line play we had all year.

a couple of juco OL guys would help, let me remind you that he didnt want to RS Smith. Smith got hurt so it made it a no-brainer

Also, lets also remember that our OL will also be better due to scheme. There will no longer be 14 men in the box to stop the run on 1st and 2nd down.

last year will be playing this year. That will help tremendously.

For some reason, he was redshirted last year.

I had been wondering about this...hope there is some "O" line help in this group..

Also looking at our Roster today...did Croom have a thing about 5'11" QB's?

not do what was required even to run second team. I heard that this guy really needs ALOT of time in the weight room. We really don't have any SEC tackles beside Sherrod. QB anf Offensive tackles are a huge must. I'm not so sure I would not red shirt Sherrod next year because we will not win more than three games. We have very little talent. Besides Chaney, there is n one in the LB core that would start for any other SEC team except Vandy. DL and DE are average at best. CB's are terrrible. Johnson may come back, but that's not for sure. Safeties are average. OL is terrible, QB is a joke aand even if we do get Tyler very few freshman can play well their first year. RB is a joke except for Dixon. We have no FB's. WR's are another joke. I don't know if the ones we have would start from some of the Mississippi JC's. So I say redshirt some of these guys even if they are past their freshman year because this will be a wasted year. Mullin will turn it around, but Croom left him absolutely nothing except Dixon and Sherrod. I truly believe that there are no other players that would start any where else in the SEC besides Vandy.

I hope with a new attitude, and better coaching we can be better than this...

Croom must have been a big fan of Doug Flutie.

I think Croom thought that he could take a bunch of walk-on caliber guys who were good people and who would work hard and develop them into good players- maybe even NFL caliber. And for some reason, he thought that these walk-ons could run the Green Bay Packers offense without simplifying it whatsoever. I think he felt like all he needed was a good running back, and we would be fine.

And ya know- you MAYBE could have done this back in the 70's with Bear Bryant. (Well, you would still have to simplify the offense) Of course, Bryant was an awesome coach, ran the much simplier wishbone, and a lot of their walk-ons probably could have gotten scholarships at some other D-I schools, but they were willing to pay their way to play for "The Bear".

You just can't do that now. You have to have some talent to compete because even all the heart, character, and good technique isn't going to stop a guy like Julio Jones who's 6'4" 210 or whatever he is and runs a 4.4 40 and can outleap just about anyone. The o-linemen and d-linemen are monsters. Then you have these freaks like Tim Tebow. You've got running backs like Glen Coffee and Darren McFadden who can run over people and then take off for the end zone. You've got LB's and safeties that hit like trucks.

You have to have guys who can actually play now. Croom's way MIGHT have worked in D-I-AA at best, and that's maybe even a stretch.

Thats ridiculous to even think about redshirting sherrod. If a guy can play that year, then he should def. play. If he is as good as you think he is by wanting to save him for a better team, then don't you think he would go pro after that? (which I do not think he is even close to pro material yet), but the way you make it sound is ridiculous. I do not believe I have ever heard of someone redshirting for the sole purpose of "our team isn't good enough to use him".

I see dumb **** on this board every day. A lot of it. Right now, there's a 50-page gem about Stansbury that is chock full of it.

But I'll be damned if this one isn't worse than any I can ever recall.

I truly believe that there are no other players that would start any where else in the SEC besides Vandy.

Nobody would ever argue that we have the best talent in the conference. Croom signed some decent classes but never on the top-10 level. But if you truly believe what you just posted, then there's just no hope for you.

But really, who do we have that is any good. We may have to play with a 5'8 QB that cannot see over his 5'11 center. This crap is ridiculous and I hate it as much as anyone else, but I'm not about to lie to myself. </p>

The only reason we started him was he was 6'4. What did he do this year? Absolutely nothing! WE HAVE NOTHING EXCEPT A GOOD FRESHMAN CLASS! NOTHING!

start for another SEC team besides Vandy and while you're at it please let us know where more than three games in the win column will come from and lets revisit this next year. Something tells me you will be a no show. You and Dustindawg can start your own board next year. My prediction is 3 games...make yours and we will see next year. Every year, I have some Genespage subscriber like you tell me how we will win 8 or 9 games and then they change their subsciber name. Tells us what is your prediction?

but KJ Wright was second on our team in tackles and led the team in sacks. I hope he misses more assignments.

Besides starting him because he's 6'4" goes against Croom's M.O.

for any other SEC team. That makes three guys instead of two. I'm still waiting for any of you to tell me we will win more than three games and where the wins will come from. Wins equate to talent on the field. We have no talent...we will win very few games. During next year we will waste a year of Sherrod who is probably one of the best OL we have had in a while. Jack..I agree its a desperate measure, but look..next year will be bad. Croom left us with nothing.

I've been on this board for quite a while and have never noticed you before. You have 28 posts, yet you manage to have yearly exchanges with "Genespage subscriber(s)" and manage to run them off. You must get a lot of mileage from your posts....

The bottom line is that there are no schools in this conference that literally have 2 (sorry... make that 3 since you changed your mind) players that could play at other conference schools. That's dumb.

Sober up or something...

Offense - Sherrod, McRae, Dixon, D. Robinson, at least could play at other schools - possibly one or two more. Defense - Chaney, Wright, Love, Mitchell, A. Johnson, Washington (people bash him, but he's average at least). Most everyone else on defense is a rfr/soph so hard to say who can and can't play yet. Are we loaded with talent - no, but to say we're rock bottom isn't true either.

There's now way to tell how many on defense would play somewhere else - we haven't seen most of them play. We lost a majority of our starters.

I believe Chaney, KJ Wright, & AJ (if he returns to his original form) would start at many schools - maybe not LSU or Florida, but certainly UM, Ark, USC, Kent, etc. On offense, Sherrod, Dixon, & McRae (again - if he can return) would start at many. Marcus Washington would probably play - not start.

But other than that, we don't have anyone who is proven - they have not had a chance to even start for us yet. But we have SEC talented players, Charles Mitchell, Joshua Jackson, Hardy, Elliott (maybe not 2009, but 2010).

Looking back, he had some good offers coming out of Co-Lin. (Oklahoma State and Kansas State)

Did I miss something as to why he did not play?

Word has always been that he was redshirted to pack on some muscle - was too weak to really compete during spring & fall practices. Maybe he'll be ready to go by this fall.
