Redshirt Question......was talking to a client today who's son is redshirting this year.

He says that his son can play in the gator bowl and it will not cost him a year of eligibility. I have never heard of such a rule, but he was certain this was the case.

Anyone else heard of this??

The term "redshirt" is used to describe a student-athlete who does not participate in competition in a sport for an entire academic year. If you do not compete in a sport the <span style="text-decoration:underline">entire academic year</span>, you have not used a season of competition.

what if a player that came to school in Jan '10 (Clausell) starts his academic year in Jan and can play in Jan '11? I have no idea if this make a difference. Just gonna throw that out there.
