For the NIL part, is a contract or anything signed by the player or is it an email/phone call saying we will give you so much $$ to come to our school whether you play or not

This is a dream come true for him. It doesn’t matter if he redshirts this year or not . Wearing the Kentucky jersey is his life dream. He will be a great ambassador for all the Lexington kids.
Kudos to Coach Pope. He is doing everything as I imagined : filling the the 13-15 roster spots with Kentucky or international kids. This will pay dividends ion mid and longterm for our program, as with renew the pride in the program among kids and teenagers of the commonwealth and take the Kentucky brand international.

Unfortunately, I have read that same quote on here more times than I can count (Jared Carter, Shag, Woo, etc) and it usually means disappointment. As a "developmental piece" I think it is going to be good.

I'm pretty sure you don't get paid a lump some when you sign. There have been memes on Facebook about a player getting a $3000 signing bonus which implies you get this now, you get checks every couple weeks or every month throughout the season. I mean NBA players are paid that way, they don't get their entire paycheck when they sign so I believe it to be that way. Of course a school COULD pay up front but I doubt any major program is.
A 7'1" defensive presence that also shoots nearly 40% from 3 point range. Great addition to our team. Now if we could get us a shooter from Europe in the 6'6" to 6'8" range to play the small forward position, let's roll
