We are looking into the situation.

I was watching this live but Flo's feed was choppy. This confirmed what I thought I saw. I don't care what Hepner said, the ref cannot put his hands on him like that. I am surprised the Indiana coach did not go more nuts.

Don’t know why, but a ref pushed Rutgers Wrestling 2020 commit Bryce Hepner after a match

Doesn't seem like that big of a deal. He just did it a bit too aggressively.

I'm more interested to know why our commit is losing 12-2 to the kid ranked #16.

While Freestyle and Folkstyle are relatively similar, Freestyle success does not always dictate Folkstyle success. Is it a very, very good indicator? Yes, but it's not the end all, be all.

Isn’t Bryce ranked somewhere around there the same for his weight class?

Did you watch the match?
There was a ton of funk which can get you in trouble in FS.
He looks like he will be a hammer on top and I have to trust our staff in the assessment of Hepner.
I am excited to watch him in the future.

If Hepner verbally went overboard, the ref has a lot of latitude to penalize wrestler and team. If ref can not control their own reactions, then it is time to find another profession.
The rules should be symmetrical...Ref should only be allowed to do what the Wrestler can do to him/her. If Hepner did that exact strike/shove to the ref, major repercussions would ensue. So the same should be true in reverse.

Separate subject and tangent: I also think fake tough guy coaches (Bobby Knight / Tim Rice) would act a lot differently toward their athletes if the athletes could defend themselves and return the physical abuse the coaches committed regularly. Really tough of them to hide behind threat of athletes losing their scholarships. Imagine a 6'10" guy throwing a basketball at Knight/Rice's faces or shoving them?
I find it ironic that there seems to be more fake tough guy coaches in basketball than in full contact sports like rugby & wrestling.
