Rick mentions "Sid" enough times that it makes it seem he believes he'll be cleared.

but it was worth the read.

rick seems pretty damn excited about this group and who could blame him. there seems to be so much upside potential with all of the experience we have on the team and with the new guys coming in (maybe).

it was surprising to hear that Reik has never really practiced but at least he is a freshmens.

is how Rick will open up to a student. Gene/Murray can barely get a few sentences out of him, but he must've talked to Justin for an hour. Either Rick enjoys being around students or Ammon is just a much better interviewer than the GP crew. Probably both.

incompetent, really stupid looking, retired railroad accountants and ultra verbose socially inept non-athlete jock sniffers?

Seriously, I would probably want to help the guy working for the school paper more than the weirdo who's trying to market his access on the internet.

'If you've got to go away from home to find a place to play and win and get a good education, then that's what you need to do.' But you can find it just as good or better close to home. You've got the best of both worlds; that's what you've got right here. Mississippi State may not be the right place for every kid, but for the right kid, it's the best place in America. I think that's what we've been able to put together. People in recruiting talk about small town Starkville. Starkville, Mississippi is a big time city for a lot of kids. Our campus, people who have never been here have a perception, but until you get here, it's totally different. Reality and perception are totally different. Our campus is as pretty and beautiful as any campus in the country.
Rick has never been the most eloquent man. But, this is a damn good statement on MSU.

He loves being around students, no question. But I think he gets annoyed at the dumbassedness of Mr. Pizza Toppings, Gene. And David Murray has a way of getting under a coach's skin. Just ask Jackie Sherrill.

That was a really great read. We are quite fortunate to have Rick Stansbury. I think it's pretty obvious why no one has gone after him - he has probably made it perfectly clear through his agent that he has no interest in any other job.

That statement reminds me of what I consider the best article ever written about Stans and the basketball program. The thing is five and a half years old but I find myself going back to read it every basketball season.

We could have a really special year this year. Can't wait for that UK game, we beat them by 30 last year at their place, would love to do the same again.

Also, some of you need to to work on your reading skills.

I'm going to have to question the validity of this article on two counts.

1 - There is no way Rick could talk that long without saying freshmens at least once

2 - There is no way Rick could talk that long and still have any voice left to be understood

..what gets me is how the interviewer actually knew the correct questions to ask.

After years of suffering through the abysmal stupidity of what Swindoll & his cabal takes into an interview, this came across as something akin to the Frost/Nixon interview.

in the media just as much as he does with players on the court. Stans was very accessible and almost seemed to enjoy answering our questions when I was working the radio gig for postgame interviews along side Ammon (who was w/ the Bulldog Beat at the time). Keep in mind that Veazey is only a few years older than most college grads, and he seems to be able to get a good interview out of Coach as well. Meanwhile, Swindoll and Murray, while nice guys, don't seem to understand the actual game of basketball as much as you'd think, and certainly can't relate to today's athlete like a younger person can. They also ask the obvious questions. And get obvious answers.
