Those fat checks from ESPN start rolling in next year right? 15 million a year for each school? Seems to me that should take care of any buyout issues, and any "how are we gonna pay a top coach" questions as well.

Am I missing something?

You're not missing anything unless you don't realize a significant amount of that is already received. In other words, it's not a new 12-15 million.

Probably more like 5-8 million.

But, it still begs the coach firing/hiring question.

Clearly the extra money gives us the ability to fire a coach and hire a really good one. It's a matter of priorities. I don't know what they are. If having a superior head football coach is #1, we can afford it.</p>

The new deal will help all SEC teams versus other conferences...but it won't do anything to separate the SEC schools, unless it's spent unwisely.

Cant be 6.5.. croom has 3 years left on the contract after this season at 1.7 each, so max would be 5.1
I have heard the number 3.5 tossed around which sounds closer to reality.
But there also will be the extra year for Cheese and Woody since each were signed to 2 year deals...and then the cost of a new coach which will likely run 2 mill.

So maybe 6.5 for a complete overhaul..but not just croom

the Croom buyout which is 1.2 per year with 3 years left. We could pay the 3.6 over 3 years though.

when it comes to coaches-- get closer to other conferences or schools similar to us. It doesn't matter what we offer, we are never going to compete with Auburn, Tn, LSU, etc. so the fact that it doesn't catch us up with the SEC is really irrelevant. We just need to have the money to make it a no brainer decision for the next set of potential hires.

would mean an additional $10,000,000 per year revenue for each SEC school. This will benefit MSU, UM and Vandy more than it will the rest of the league. It'll be a 25%-30% revenue boost for us, while it will be a much smaller boost for the rest of the league. To put it in terms that are easier to relate to, who would notice a $10,000 raise more, the man making $35,000 per year or the man making $90,000 per year?

Also, in response to ScoobaDawg, Woody is the only assistant coach with a 2-year deal. Cheese is on a 1-year contract like all the other assistants.

It won't make as much of a difference at Fla.,Tn,Al etc as it will at State and Ole Miss.

When you got 60 mil what's another 6 mil?

When you have 30 something, it's pretty big.
