even be interested? i realize he's a midwest big ten guy but he's got one of the best jobs in college football right now and no way ND is in that category. until they get a little flexibility in their academic standards for athletes, IMO, they will not be a true national contender. i just don't see any good reason for saban to give them the time of day, except as it might milk more $$ out of UAT. help me understand.

1. Likes the Midwest
2. I personally don't think he likes Tuscaloosa
3. ND gets more press than Bammer no matter what their record
4. The glory of being "The Man" that brings ND football back to glory
5. Who in hell would want to live in Tuscaloosa?
6. ND plays 3 tough games a year. Win that and they are BCS-bound
7. They have their own network
8. To get the hell out of Tuscaloosa
9. Recruit coast-to-coast- and while Bammer does too- its easier to convince a Californian to go to South Bend
10. He never stays anywhere more than 5 years

and are trying to convince themselves that he wants to leave. It's no coincidence that the guy who wrote the story on bleacherreport.com saying he may be going to Notre Dame is an Auburn fan. Personally, I think Nick Saban is right where he wants to be.

just how big of a deal ND football is, growing up in pennsylvania it was mostly penn state, but ND was the alternative and still had a ton of fans via city folks, catholics and people who just liked to cheer for the biggest. The hugeness of this job wouldn't be lost on saban, and while it may seem like midwest schools are lower profile jobs, a lot of that has to do with the fact that the fans are far more reasonable as opposed to the general asshatery that occurs daily at bama. its also job security, which i think bama will get him, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to say that if he doesn't win an NC, they could get tired of him, look at a lot of those big 10 coaches who have been given plenty of time to build success, coaches love that stuff, granted i don't see the same thing in ND.

Regarding #7, only ND's home games are part of that contract, I wouldn't be surprised if UA gets a higher rating than ND based on an average of all televised games within the past 20ish years

Yeah, I mean Bama fans shoot their QB rather than punch him in the face after having dinner with his parents. What asshats!

I know ND would have to pay a large amount to Weiss. But, hell, they can afford it. They are getting desperate to produce a winner. They probably think Saban is the man that can deliver and I'm sure they'd be willing to pony up the money to at least make him consider.

I don't think he will go anywhere, but he would be dumb not to consider any kind of offer that would give him a 30%-50% increase in salary with incentives.

He graduated from Kent State. He coached at Kent State, Ohio State, Mich State, Toledo, and the Cleveland Browns. I'm not going to act like I know the guy, but the idea that he likes the mid-west certainly isn't far-fetched as he has spent a great portion of his adult life there.

will be the issue at all...either he will want to leave or he won't- whether he is making 4 or 5 million a year wont determine that

what part do you disagree with? the part where notre dame is a big deal, bama fans are asshats, big 10 coaches are under considerably less pressure than sec coaches, or people like job security? i'm not saying saban will go there, just that its an attractive offer. granted we are talking ND, who have looked more like the raiders than the irish, but i imagine saban is fairly confident in his abilities.
