Arcadia as in the school on the Eastern Shore almost in Maryland??? WTF
I'll defend Arcadia and Bruton on this one. The teams on the ES have a horrible time finding enough games. It's just a fact, that other than a small handful of teams, they are going to make a LONG trip to some far away school. And the schools on this side of the bay don't have that problem, so they are reluctant to sign a deal with the ES schools.
My hats off to Bruton for agreeing to play Arcadia.
As a side note, here is a little story about Eastern Shore football. In 1965, the first year that Dinwiddie had a football team, they played Cape Charles High School for their final game of the year.
The boys were excited, because they were informed that Cape Charles was down to only 13 or 14 players, for this, the final game of the year. Victory #2 of this inaugural season was all but assured. The bus ride to the Eastern Shore would be harder than the football game.
Well..., It didn't go exactly as planned. The final score was Cape Charles 59, Dinwiddie 0.
One of the players told me that the bus ride home must have lasted 20 hours. He said that no one was allowed to utter so much as a peep.
Incidently, Cape Charles ended their season undefeated at a perfect 9-0.
