BLACKSBURG — The Lord Botetourt girls basketball team fell into a hole it just couldn’t climb out of Thursday afternoon.

After the top-seeded Cavaliers took an early five-point lead, No. 4 Abingdon responded with an effective 11-0 run to end the first quarter, taking a lead it never relinquished.

This was a good game. Trivette was a load in the middle. Ervin looked worn down by the 4th Q. She needed a lil more help on the offensive end. I can see these two locking up again next weekend.

It's unfortunate that LCA, Abingdon and Carroll County are in the same half of the draw at the state tournament.

I'm still trying to understand how Abingdon was only seeded #4 in this region - they just beat 2 of the best 3A girls teams in the state back-to-back JUST to win their region.

Abingdon was well coached and not intimidated by Carroll County. The Falcons played well. Carroll County looked out of sorts the whole game.
