Last night the region got to witness something very special. Lancaster has been top dog in the region for years. Mathews has been a respectable program over the years but hasn't taken that next step until now. The Blue Devils are a dominant team and everyone should be on notice. The played a tough Nansmond River team in Suffolk and lost by 8, beat Denbigh on a neutral court and now have beaten Lancaster. The regional championship will go through these two team and I can't wait to see them play again on Monday. Mathews will be the home team this time. The Red Devils will come in focused and looking to knock the Blue Devils back to reality, or will the Blue Devils protect home court where they are unbeaten at 5-0.
Either way the game will be entertaining and fun to watch. The atmosphere was electric last night and regardless of who won or lost, neither team had reason to hang their heads. Both teams are well coached and are championship caliber programs.
