So, the Region A, Class 2 Region Championship will be played in game one instead of game 3 with King William at Poquoson? I'm kidding. Bruton is really good this year and Southampton is no slouch either. Both of them have a shot to beat K William and Poquoson.

Don't be surprised if Southampton is the 1 seed. They will be heavy favs their last 4 and likely finish 9 and 1. Poquoson still has to play Bruton, Smithfield, and Lafayette. Bruton still has Poquoson, York, and New Kent. A 9 and 1 Poquoson will outpoint a 9 and 1 Bruton and a 9-1 Southampton

I'm not a power rating guy, but looking at remaining schedules, it looks like Poquoson, Bruton, and Southampton are nearly locks to be the top 3 (in no particular order) and I would be surprised if Amelia or Lunenburg entered the top 3.

Wow... When will something be done to balance these regions out? I believe the 1-7 seeds in Region B could win Region A. We watched Amelia go to the Region A final last year after losing to Buckingham by 43 points in week 10

Yeah i think Bruton and Southampton finish 9-1, and Poquoson will either finish 9-1 or 10-0, if they beat Lafayette. If KW played the schedule that some of these other schools in Region A, they'd potentially be 9-1 or 10-0 too. But despite their record, they've been challenged and competitive in all but the Hanover game and i think that will serve them well come playoff time

I don't think the Reg B 1 seed or 2 or 3 through 8 will beat Region A this year. I think Poquoson, if it plays at home, will win in the semis this year. One problem or disadvantage for Poquoson is its schedule. They play that schedule, get 2 losses, then have to travel to B. This year, Poquoson stands a great chance to host and they have probably their best team in 14 years. Smithfield is still on Poquosons schedule along with Lafayette. Smithfield can beat Poquoson and so can Lafayette and Poquoson is only favored by 4 over Bruton in Calpreps.

Here's an example. Calpreps. Smithfield would beat Clarke County by 3 points and it has Smithfield beating Riverheads by 3 points. Also, Calpreps has Poquoson beating Riverheads by 2 pts right now.

Region 2A has won state titles in Class 2 with King William, Poquoson, and Goochland the past 14 or so years. Region 2B has struggled here. There's no question, Region B is far better from top to bottom than A and has far more depth. It's not even close. But more depth and balance doesn't automatically mean your number 1 or number 2 team is better than the other regions number 1 or 2 team. Most of the time, the Region B winner has been better than the Region A winner, but it seems that when A wins the game, it has a much better percentage of winning the title game. I think Poquson stands a strong chance to get a W over B this year, if they can beat KW and Bruton in the playoffs and be able to host the B winner. Lafayette would wipe the field with any team in B (and C and D minus Graham which would be closer) and Poquoson is automatically starting 0 and 1 every year.

I'm aware that Poqouson plays a tough schedule. My point is that there are stellar teams who will lose in the first round of Region B & other regions that would easily be in the region final of region A.

Again, last year Amelia made it to the Region final by beating a 5-6 team & a 6-6 team. Region B's 6 seed was 8-2 and beat BC who had just beaten Amelia by 46 points the week before.

Region B has had a team in the State final the past two seasons...

When Goochland was winning it was a different Region format because they played BC the first round of the playoffs one of the years that they won it. BC was their only close game the entire season.
