I don't think the Reg B 1 seed or 2 or 3 through 8 will beat Region A this year. I think Poquoson, if it plays at home, will win in the semis this year. One problem or disadvantage for Poquoson is its schedule. They play that schedule, get 2 losses, then have to travel to B. This year, Poquoson stands a great chance to host and they have probably their best team in 14 years. Smithfield is still on Poquosons schedule along with Lafayette. Smithfield can beat Poquoson and so can Lafayette and Poquoson is only favored by 4 over Bruton in Calpreps.
Here's an example. Calpreps. Smithfield would beat Clarke County by 3 points and it has Smithfield beating Riverheads by 3 points. Also, Calpreps has Poquoson beating Riverheads by 2 pts right now.
Region 2A has won state titles in Class 2 with King William, Poquoson, and Goochland the past 14 or so years. Region 2B has struggled here. There's no question, Region B is far better from top to bottom than A and has far more depth. It's not even close. But more depth and balance doesn't automatically mean your number 1 or number 2 team is better than the other regions number 1 or 2 team. Most of the time, the Region B winner has been better than the Region A winner, but it seems that when A wins the game, it has a much better percentage of winning the title game. I think Poquson stands a strong chance to get a W over B this year, if they can beat KW and Bruton in the playoffs and be able to host the B winner. Lafayette would wipe the field with any team in B (and C and D minus Graham which would be closer) and Poquoson is automatically starting 0 and 1 every year.
