Seems to be just as many teams not playing, as teams that are.

Who's In:

Rappahannock
Northumberland
King & Queen
West Point
Mathews
Northampton??? Haven't heard if the Jackets are playing

Who's Out:

Essex
Washington and Lee
Colonial Beach
Middlesex
Charles City

It was awesome to look outside today and see Northumberland football players practicing and running drills in their gear!

It was also lots of activity on the NHS track - maybe a competition.

Rappahannock has also been holding sports tryouts and practices since Monday.

I heard in Ladies' Raider Volleyball there was a huge turnout for Varsity and JV!

Maybe the Lady Raiders will get another shot at Riverheads this year!

Of course, Northumberland, Middlesex and Mathews are always really good too!

Both schools (NHS and RHS) have been going in-person and virtual (hybrid learning) for almost this entire school year. Very few, if any issues.

According to the Rappahannock Times, Rappahannock only has 22 players on the team and also won't have a jv team this year. Northumberland just might be the favorite of the teams playing football in Region A this spring.

Thanks, Interesting...I have not heard the numbers yet about football. Northumberland's did not look huge either but it is early (and cold) and we are still in unusual times.

Communication can be difficult too for some virtual kids.

Just guessing but some kids may have had a hard time getting physicals as well. As word spreads, hopefully more kids will come out all over Region A and elsewhere.

Northumberland hosted a polar bear meet against Charles City and Mathews.
