Glass - they are better than last year. They have speed and their defense is better
Why in the world is this game being played Friday night? Why does Blacksburg want to give away their home field advantage? Do they not realize there is another game down the road (I know, this game was moved to Christiansburg) on Friday that is going to keep a good number of fans away?
Gate sales are going to be down across the state trying to compete with the UVA/VT game, but it makes even less sense for Blacksburg.

Not to mention all the traffic on I-81 especially with all the EC Glass and UVA fans coming the same direction on I-81

Last years game was great, this one will be better! You don’t wanna miss this one! Of course I’m going with them Hilltoppers! Both teams have athletes galore.
Going to be a great football game. Glass has been waiting for this chance at revenge. Blacksburg is back in the region final for 3rd straight year, Salem kept them from finishing last year so I'm sure they'll be plenty motivated to finish the job. It's going to be a great one. BBurg got Terry back just in time, they'll need all hands on deck to score on this defense enough to win. Certainly the top two defenses in the region hooking up. I look for a tight game, decided by a score two at the most. I'm taking Glass 21-17.
Tech and UVA play at 330 so maybe they’re trying to attract the fans who want some extra football.
730 kickoff would have some fans. Uva does have a verbal commit from a player on the roster for bburg
VT game won't be over till after 7:00 then figure in traffic and getting out of parking lots...they aren't getting to CHief before 8:30 or 9:00 ....so I doubt many at all so that
Well once the hoos start running up the score I’m sure a lot of tech fans will make that trip so they can atleast see one team from Blacksburg win hopefully.

Rematch of last years hard hitting game, I believe the score was either 21-7 or 14-7. Blacksburgs defense is staunch as is Glass there’s familiarity and the same stakes from last year so I expect it to be a drag out fight.
Cburg has turf BTW...oh yeah I forgot kids these days aren't allowed to get wet and dirty

He was talking about the Blacksburg field that's why they're playing at Christiansburg on the turf. The previous poster had said the kids nowadays are not allowed to get wet or dirty.
Wet and dirty comment was mine lol...just don't understand why teams are so scared to play in the rain...soft is why
A little rain has never bothered me as much as it does kids and parents these days
I'm sure a lot of it has to do with Blacksburg's speed on turf as opposed to a grind it out team on a muddy field. EC Glass and Blacksburg should be pretty even on a turf field though, similar speed.
My point...both have speed and it's gonna be on turf..a little water won't hurt anyone...or maybe it will with the way the world is now..softies
Where does Blacksburg practice since their field is is terrible shape? I assume they have other practice fields and that it’s grass?
I have heard of them using Virginia Tech's indoor practice facility in the past. Not sure if that will be available to them this time since it's earlier in the season. Last time it was used by Blacksburg for the championship game in 2016 IIRC.
But what about just during the year normally? Do they practice on the game field?

Right? And what's with this fancy schmancy plastic helmets? In my day you wore a leather pad and when your skull cracked and you bled to death on the field, the coach called your folks later that night and said "tough luck" and they shrugged and went to bed because by god they had to get up at 3 AM to tend the fields. Kids today!
several practice fields around the middle and high schools, the game field was treated for crabgrass at the begining of the season and made it horrible, plus it was poorly designed with lil to no drainage.

Playing at noon Friday would have been a terrible idea. ECG would be coming from lynchburg causing them to leave very early. Especially with traffic. Should ECG attempt to get hotel rooms on Thursday (thanksgiving) and miss family time? Hotel Rates are up due to the holidays and the VT/UVA game...Players on both teams with thanksgiving dinner sittin on the stomach would be bad as well. 7 pm Friday is ideal, especially since kids could get wet on Saturday with the monsoon coming in...
This was in reference to Blacksburg’s field. This is why they are playing at Christiansburg.
Looking at the map they have 6 to 8 possible fields to practice on. One near their stadium looks like it is used for football.
