1. 5 SEC hosts (FL, LSU, Ark, OM, Georgia)
2. 2 National Seeds- LSU and Florida. I am really surprised Florida is in over Ole Miss, but Florida has an 8 RPI and Ole Miss' is 16.
3. Kansas State is hosting. Wow. Lane Burroughs was their lead recruiter last year. No idea how many players he brought that are having an impact.
4. 8 SEC teams in. Kentucky in the last 10 out. Louisville and Vandy in the last 5 in.
5. And sebaseball does not lack creativity as they have Louisville as the 3 seed in Oxford.

players that are contributing are as a result of Lane Burroughs' recruiting. B/c our recruiting class, per some sites, does not have many highly rated high school players. I'm fine with this for now b/c I'm giving our staff the benefit of the doubt when it comes to evaluating players for what this staff is looking for in a COLLEGE player. I'll also add that our first few commitments for next year are no where to be found in the early rankings either.

and I don't think any of them were recruited by Burroughs.

The more I research our high school class, the less impressed I am with this recruiting class.

and I do expect this to be a Top 20 class but it will be interesting to see what our recruiting classes will look like in the future. I have to say that I'm expecting big things down the road, especially when you have supposed big time recruiters at a school like Miss. St.

Winning will make recruiting easier so a Top 10 class may not happen until after next season.

recruiting class. I think a lot depends on who is projected to go high in the draft which is "catch a fish in a fishbowl".

Looking at next years class looks like a good group on paper, we need pitchers and more pitchers to compete.

we are recruiting guys next year like Kaleb Barlow and Daryl Norris, both of who could very well be drafted fairly high. The fact of the matter is about 10 years ago the thought process was "take the money if you get drafted because you may never get drafted again." Now the philosphy has started to shift more towards "go to college and try to get more money later."

Because of that, we need to take chances on guys like that because our odds of getting them into school is better now than ever before, and a lot of times, those are the recruits that turn out to be All-Americans.

Of course, in the case of those two, we have to get them committed first. Still, we have some guys in our current class that will probably be drafted in June as it is like Watson, Stratton, Bole, Runey Davis, Jaron Shepherd, and Bright.

At UK, it took Cohen four years to get his first really highly rated class. It shouldn't take him that long here with Burroughs and Thompson knowing the region like they do. Plus, Cohen was pretty good at picking out sleepers and coaching them up at UK.
