Who do we start in game 1? I think if we end up a 1 and hosting then it's a no brainer to throw graveman against the 4 and save Stratton for the 2/3. BUT - if we stay a 2 seed, do you try to win with Graveman and save Stratton for the 1 or do you just throw Stratton to give us the best chance to win the first game? Graveman against a host's ace is a scary thought. Only because you know his run support will be very minimal. Thoughts?

That's still a long shot though. Stratton doesn't start the first game in any scenario

If we're a #2, I would think the luxury would be having a weaker #3 if things are matched up like we think they do it...we would be a high #2 in a low #1 Regional, so technically wouldn't that put a lower rpi #3 seed in there with us? I know it doesn't always work that way, but if so, it could give us the option to go with Woodruff on day one whether we're a 1 OR 2. The only thing you worry about is not trying to get too greedy...we're still a team that desn't hit well and has shown the ability to play down and lose to weaker teams from time to time. My best guess would be to start Graveman if we're a 1 or 2, and pitch Stratton in game 2. Woodruff is good enough to pitch a Regional Championship.

do you really want to potentially put yourself in a situation where you're facing the 4 seed in an elimination game and having to decide whether you burn your ace against the 4 seed with an elimination match against the 1 seed looming?

I definitely think we should consider throwing Mitchell or Pollo against the 4, maybe even Woodruff. If we host, our 4 is likely to be one of the Northeastern teams because of a lack of bad Southern teams. The winners of the Sun Belt, SoCon, etc. are going to be no worse than a 3, and Prairie View (Texas) won the SWAC.

If we could keep Stratton against the 2/3 and Graveman for the regional title, it would set up nicely for a Super.

If we are a 2, I see us playing one of those Appalachian State/College of Charleston types as a 3. I think I throw Mitchell and save Stratton for the 1.

who the opposing pitcher is in Game 1. Most of the teams that make the tourney have an ace, even the smaller schools. Much too early to make that call.
