Morehead has some outstanding senior skill players and was a determined team tonight. Duron King, who started out wearing No. 8 and finished wearing No. 35, is a top-notch back. He runs hard and has excellent speed. Finished with 196 yards on 16 carries. Coach Lin Stadler has put together a competitive team that might turn some heads in the Mid-State 3-A Conference.

Moorehead to me looked awful. Were just used to seeing reidsville do little things well. Like catching and blocking and tackling. They stunk at all that tonight .

Some stats: Reidsville 19 first downs, Morehead 16. Morehead 301 net yards, Reidsville 295.
Trell Rankin led the Rams with 8 tackles, Kwame Davis had 7 tackles, including 3 sacks. Breon Pass had 2 interceptions and Kahree Hayes had one. Zach Perdue had the game-saving blocked field goal and Ki Rankin blocked the extra point a few minutes earlier that kept the lead at 14-13.
And - oh yes, the penalties. Reidsville 12 for 101 yards, Morehead 6 for 45 yards.

Very impressed with Morehead tonight.

Their defensive front dominated Rams offensive line for much of the game. Coach Stadler's son did a great job at linebacker.

Their offensive line was equally outstanding.

Some strange passing calls by the Panthers when they were ramming the ball down Reidsville's lines with running plays.

Rams kept shooting themselves in both feet with penalties and dropped passes.

But a win is a win. Just outstanding efforts on blocked extra point and blocked field goal attempt were the difference in the end.

Fact24, I completely disagree. Morehead is better this year than the team Bates took to the 3rd round 3 years ago. They limit penalties. They're loaded with athletes. I honestly see them winning the conference or second at worse. RC, NE, McMichael, Roxboro, Northern Guilford should be wins. Eastern Alamance nor Western Alamance better not sleep on them

W-S Reynolds arrives next Friday with a 2-1 record after romping to a 49-0 win over Winston-Salem Prep Thursday night.
Reynolds lost its opener to Southwest Guilford and then beat W-S Atkins and Prep.
Coach Pat Crowley was quoted in the Winston-Salem Journal:
“We were frustrated with our first-game loss to Southwest Guilford and, not that were looking past Atkins or Prep, but we wanted to come in here and take care of business and hopefully not get anyone injured so we can be at full strength for Reidsville next week. Now the competition level is rising, and we have to be ready to step up.”

If this moorehead teams makes 3rd round playoffs Il eat my words. Il admit when I'm wrong. But Moorehead coach is bad. Proven to call dumb calls in big moments. Told his qb to take a knee if they completed the pass . they did and instead of spiking he said to take a knee. So they had to waists last timeout with 14 sec and was forced to kick a FG. He blew it

Don't think they're better than the team that almost made it to the fourth round. That team was loaded with skill players - the Dabbs boys are both playing at N.C. State. But this Morehead team is tremendously improved over the team that lost 74-0 to Reidsville a year ago and ended the season on a 9-game skid.

Coach Bates made that team a real factor. I was actually shocked reidsville won that game . Sucess follows rams coaches. Not Stadler.

I was a bit surprised that Morehead didn't go for 2 after the TD that made it 14-13. But when you've got good kicker, you are not as likely to take a chance. Looks like the kicker has a good leg but doesn't have much blocking ... maybe he kicks it too low?

One of the Dabbs is starting for the Wolfpack special teams tomorrow against James Madison.

Rams got pressure right up the gut .Bull rushed the gaps .Center has to kick block someone .He just sat there. Kicker had no chance

Yeah, I was surprised they didn't go for two. Reidsville could not stop their running game. Both extra point attempt and field goal try were kicked too low. Rams penetrated and the result was a win for Reidsville.

Reidsville sophomore QB Pinnix was running for his life most of the night tonight but didn't panic and turn the ball over. So far this season he's 31 of 54 with no interceptions for 439 yards and 3 TDs. Shows pretty good poise for a first-year varsity player.

I still think them not spiking ball cost them the game .Taking a knee with 1 timeout maybe worst thing you could ask your q.b to do in that spot

I forget the year but Reidsville tried to spike the ball from the shotgun against SWE in 3rd round. Nearly cost us the game.

Yea. But Lin stradler had ball on 1 yard line against rams at the rock in 2012 and called last timeout and called only 1 play in huddle and they ran out 27 seconds on 1 play because they tried calling a 4th timeout because Stadler told his team they had 1 left. And they lost by 1 score. A td would have won.

Not sure what you're talking about ... yes spiking ball would have saved time out -- a time out they didn't need ... they still ended up with plenty of time to line-up for the field goal.

For two years, I've watched the Rams average 48 a game giving up around 8. 34 and 1 in that time frame. I've listened to our foes say we play nobodies. We're a late hit and fumble heading into the end zone from be 35 and 0 with 2 state titles. Over two years, we sent about 15 players to college to play.

Tonight we played a good team. We had to play a game like most teams assume will be the games that build the team and help you prepare for big games later in the year. We made mistakes. The kids overcame the mistakes and put their hands in the dirt and made plays when they had to. Are there things that need to improve and build upon, you bet. We're starting a sophomore qb, who hasn't thrown a INT through 3 games. 3 underclassmen receivers. Your most experienced O lineman is hurt on first offensive series of the year and he was the only returning starter on the O Line. We're starting a Safety that didn't play last year and has stepped up huge. You have a sophomore corner, who had 2 picks tonight. We have a new punter, holder and LS. We've played 3 games. Given up 21 pts and scored 123. I think if you ask any team in the state, if they'd be ok with where we are, I'm sure the answer would be yes.

Proud of coach Stadler for having his boys ready. I don’t care what anybody says, he’s a hell of a coach and I would go to war for him any day. Hope morehead and reidsville go deep for Rock County!

Morehead looked soild, they had speed and was physical, they came ready to play. Only time will tell how good they are which will reflect how good we are. When morehead scored to make it 14-13 I would have went for two because we were exhausted and banged up. The 1st blocked field goal gave us life. We needed it after they recovered the onside kick

I see we have one of those new Rams fans this year, that will spend more time pointing out all the bad without even a mention of the good. Clamming he is a former player and all. Yeah the basketball player had a drop but this sophomore also had 2 goaline interceptions. #2 had a drop but this was his first drop of the year thus far. He also has 2 tds in 3 games after not playing last year. #10, a sophomore had an interception tonight. #50, a sophomore had key sacks and a blocked field goal. #63, the starting dt and a sophomore went down in the 1st half. #7, a sophomore still has not thrown an int. #6, another sophomore, a starter has been out with injury. The o line, no varsity starts until this year except #64. So they have a lot of work to do. Finally, #64 with starts from the 9th, 10th and 11th grades and voted conference o lineman of the year is out with injury. And for the record last years state runner up team was the same team that won it the previous year, minus 4 players, so they could not be the worst as you have stated on another blog. Keep working guys. Over look the has beens that will not post the positives and the negatives. I agree with Capital, there are several teams that would love to be 3-0 with all of these variables.

Read what I said. Worst state title team we have put on the field. The 2016 was way better. Those so called 4 players were huge for that team. All in D1 schools. And I don't claim to be a former ram .I promise I'm a state champion with reidsville. And started at WR . not a genius to figure out who I am. I'm not hiding. I speak the truth on what I see. And I have been posting for years .So you are wrong on all accounts with me freshdl3. And I point out the bad because for the rams anything less than a state title is failure. Coaches there teach these kids very same thing.

Nothing wrong with pointing out the bad, but is that all that you see? You were at the game. Posting negatives early on but never spoke on any positives of the players that you called out. So, for the readers, I had to point them out. Everything that these players did was not bad. For the record that team has 3 that are playing D1, so you are wrong.

I like Breon Pass as well. I just view him as a corner and not a Wr. Just watching him. He seems more comfortable playing corner. I understand kinks still have to be made out . Canady on offense and Pass and #4 on defense is the bright spots from my view.

Correct if I'm wrong . Arm tackles was issue. Blocking was issue. Catching was issue. Containment on edge was bad. Special teams is a plus for us. We kill teams in that area . All things I have mentioned can be fixed .That's positive. In 06 we looked very similar vs a Rockingham team that we thought we should win by 50. Made adjustments through year and made to Semis. But that season is viewed as a failure . coach Teague and Co. Are the best coaching staff . always have believed that.

I agree with everything except saying the 2017 team was the same as 2016 minus 4 players.

2017 only had 3 offensive starters and only 4 on defense from the year before.

Maybe in the eyes of some, but the semis is still a great season. I would not call it a complete failure, maybe disappointing

The numbers don't lie. Looks like 2009, 2016, and 2017 were better than 2007. So definitely not the worst team to go to a state finals game.

A Sophomore doesn't normally start at wr, db, punter, punt returner and kickoff returner in the same game for Reidsville ..calling out a 15 year old starting his 3rd varsity football game at all of those positions is laughable, I'm sure he will develop just fine or maybe y'all may be wishing he was on the team his junior and senior year..just saying

Yes. Numbers do lie .02 03 07 09 rams would destroy the 16 and 17 rams team. With a running clock
