Relf and "personal reasons"?

I hope it's truly something that is calling him away that has nothing to do with any disciplinary reasons. But your assumed starting QB not being at fan day a week before his first game of the season is concerning.

why would Dan suspend him on fan day? That actually might be something that a player would want to skip.

The claim was that it was done that way so that Tyler and Dylan could get more reps, but I wouldn't think Chris is to the point where he can just give away reps himself.

Steve has reported that the reason he is missing the fan day is due to a hurt hand.

I guess he doesn't want to risk it by signing autographs.

an unfortunate positive result on a random drug screen. Of course, it could be an injured hand. I guess he could have fallen asleep holding a smoldering blunt.

said Relf is not hurt, he just had something personal he had to do today, and it's no big deal.

1) That still doesn't address Thursday. There's no way Chris has suddenly gotten to the point where he doesn't need to practice and can give his reps away.
2) What else would you expect a coach to say? Especially now that it's game week. Not saying this isn't the case, but just because a coach claimed it was doesn't mean much.

I hope there's nothing wrong here, but the situation is a little sketchy.

I'm 100% sure a coach told Paul that this morning. And I'm sure that there's no more for Paul to be able to find. So I don't find fault with anyone. I'm just saying that there's not enough information to completely assuage my fears.

...Relf dinged a hand as is reported. Mullen has kept things totally quiet for the duration of the camp. If Relf shows up to fan day in any kind of cast or wrap on his hand, Veazey et all will put it out to the world. So he misses for "personal reasons" because we don't want to give out any info.

When he goes to class, don't you think the entire student body would be exposed, and then everyone and their mother would know he had an injured hand?

I dont think that is a logical theory.

As there is also not enough evidence to go batshit crazy with fear either. Why is it so damn hard to not take the coach at his word? Is the State staff notorious for bullshitting people in the past?

with an hand injury. I didn't see Wardlaw or Jones. They may have been there, but I did not see them. Take that at face value. I don't know what's right or wrong here.

injured his hand it is either swollen from hard contact with a helmet or he has the Madkin injury, a broken finger. If you recall, Madkin had to have a pin inserted in the finger (damn, that hurts thinking about it). Of course, keeping
with the worst case situation, the injured hand is on his throwing arm. Either way, we are 17ed.

How's that for some negative waves.

the drunk post was to throw us off the trail of the real reason he's in N.O.As the last leg ofRelf's preseason training, Mullen has privately hired C34 to train
Relf in the Superdome to hone his skills to their utmost peak before the lights come on next Saturday night. I believe I just got a lot more wooly...bring on 'bama!!

The defensive players seemed to make it a point today that they didn't know anything about Relf, as expected because "we don't spend much time with the offense and we usually find out out about things a couple of days after you(the public) do".

The offensive players were a little more suspicious in their responses when asked about where he was. Immediately after asked one would say "He had a family matter" and Russell said "Oh, he should be right over there I think" followed by another player saying "No, we don't know anything about other players and personal matters"

Probably not a big deal but I left today thinking there was something else to the situation.

When any player anywhere misses a Thursday practice and then misses the Saturday Fan Day for "personal reasons," it usually means something's wrong.
