I am going to continue to work hard and succeed and you guys WILL see me in the future. To the guys who think they will never make it, Hard work really pays off. I have been put down all my life and told I would never play QB, but I made my dreams come true and you can too. Now its time for me to make it to the next level. You can criticize him for throws he madeor decisions he made, but you can never question his effort, his heart, or his passionfor MSU football. He may not have been the most talented MSU player ever, but he gave it his all. He led us to2 bowl victories, 3 Egg Bowl victories, and 2 back to back winning seasons for the 1st time in 11 years. To me, I will always associate Mullen with what he accomplished with Relf and how he transformed him into a serviceable SEC QB that brought me some great MSU memories.

on the field and it sounds like he is even more of one off it. Thanks for every thing Mr. Relf, esp the three straight Bear killings!</p>

Chris gets it - he got his college education, the first in his family. He relentlessly worked on his dream of playing QB, he did it. Sounds like he's got his spiritual life in order, I'm happy for him and hope he gets at least a tryout somewhere at he next levels, be it CFL or NFL.

I was one of the guys that said you couldn't play QB and would be moved to TE. Thanks for proving me wrong.

Also, thanks for having better stats than Archie Manning and kicking Ole Miss's tail three years in a row and winning our first NYD bowl since 1941. I'm sure it was hard not to laugh in 2010 when Nix sent the house and you flipped it over their heads to Perkins for 70 yard gains time and time again. You certainly proved that you were a better person than me because I would have laughed in their face.

Anyhow, thanks for providing us endless hours of entertainment on sixpack due to your accomplishments. They are duly noted and much appreciated.

Madkin was constantly bombarded by the fickle nature that is college football well before the reactionary universe that we currently live in, and now we love him. Mr. Relf you will be appreciated in more ways than you can imagine by the Bulldog nation. And we thank you for every hard earned yard you initiated. I hope you succeed in life as you did on the field.

They get too much credit when the team wins and too much blame when the team loses.

That's the nature of the beast right or wrong.

I've followed MSU for six decades, we have never had a QB with FIVE Championships!

for poor QB play. There were a few vile, personal attacks that went too far. That he wasn't really SEC QB material seems obvious, but it's not his fault he was too short. He was what we had at the time and the best QB on the roster. He played hard, seemed to be a decent guy, and might one day send a good recruit or two to us (didn't he want to go into coaching?).

Don Smith. At that point they were probably right, but it was tough to see a guy that had seemed on the brink of busting out slowly spiral down. Like you said, good to see somebody go out on a high note.

Relf overachieved, period. The guy came into campus nowhere close to being a serviceable passer. Nobody thought he would be a winning QB, except him. He was recruited to be a drop back passer by Crooms - enough said. Yet, he worked hard and did everything the team asked. He became serviceable as apassing QB and won a lot of games (by MSU standards). There is no telling how many first downs he earned by just powering over defenders.

I get criticizing players, but when a guy wasn't recruited by anyone and overachieving that much, come on. You don't blast a guy too much for that. I agree with what someone else said about Tyson Lee. He didn't sign himself and fail to recruit other serviceable QBs. Criticize some, but come on.

Rockey Felker in 1974 and Chris Relf in 2011. Madkin and Bond had good careers, but didn't come anywhere near finishing on a high note. That's about it. That's about to change though. This is a new era in MSU football history. The days of sucking most years and having an occasional good season or two here and there are over.

certainly didn't finish on a high note, as I wouldn't call blowing your knee out a high note, but he had a good career nonetheless.

I know when I critcize a QB, I don't intend for it to be personal. Obviously, it comes across that way when it's written down in black and white on a message board to some people.

But, when someone does a poor job, they are going to get criticized for it. Doesn't mean that overall that they are a bad player.

It doesn't help that pretty much every other SEC team has had at least functional QB play while we struggle annually. Heck, Ole Miss had Eli and Vandy had Cutler.

I do think our fans are impatient though- one incompletion and some people want to trot the next "real deal" out there. Maybe it's good that Dan likes two QB systems so that all of our fans will be happy.

But yeah. He was a real good one. 1992 would have been a very special season if he hadn't blown his knee out against Florida. We'd have gone 9-2 for sure.

I hope if he never plays a down in the NFL he at least hits a 300 million powerball somewhere. Guy is a player and helped put some hardware in the case. Been a good run.

Tyler will get one free year and then he will see the same thing. At MSU, senior quarterbacks are eaten alive. You would think with our measly QB records and an offensive minded coach, someone could shatter them, but nobody lasts long enough to do it. Jordan, Plump, Taite, Wyatt, Madkin, Omar, Relf...every one of them played early by supplanting the senior ahead of them and then suffered the same fate by their senior years.

He led us to a 3-8 record the next year and had some injury issues.
