Remember that time Flood didn't think PJ Walker was worth a qb scholarship?

Considering we were first to target Russo and several '18 kids who are blowing up, this thread is stupid

Especially since there is a TON of legitimate material to crush flood with

Man we've been the 1st to target many kids from the class of 2014,2015 & beyond who've blown up but have any of them signed with us?????

Awwww shucks...you're both right. If we had pj walker we would have only lost to wisky by 30

Feel better now?

Op,
Monday Morning QBing!!! PJ is great for temple but still wouldn't start here. He was never going to fit the pro style system, so give it a rest. There are plenty of things to trash Flood about and this is NOT one.

I'm not saying I agree or disagree but I'll just ask: what does Laviano bring to the pro style system that PJ doesn't?

I disagree. I would trade him for our guy all day.

You're missing the point. Is PJ a better football player than Laviano? Yes. Would I love him on the team? yes. Would he start right now, probably not. He got his opportunity by going to Temple, where there was no competition and the offense fit his skill set. He would have been moved to safety or corner 2 years ago at Rutgers and for the right reasons.

PJ Walker put on a passing clinic in the state finals at Rutgers Stadium. He threw all over Piscataway. Had their defensive coaches drooling. Guess Flood didn't make the trip all the way from Middlesex because of he had, he would have seen a player worth tweaking your offense to suit his array of skills.

PJ would be playing over Laviano, and it ain't close. PJ kept it close vs. ND. Rutgers gets blown out vs. ND.

Walker was 13 for 30 with 1 td and 1 INT vs ND. If he had those numbers ar RU the same people who are criticizing LAvinao would be criticizing Walker that he is not a d1 QB and had no other offers to play QB.

PJ would have never gotten PT over Nova or Laviano because Flood has no ability to recognize QB talent.

Unless of course those same people actually watched the game and saw just how strong a QB walker proved himself to be last night and his solid command of virtually all aspects of the game. I believe we could find room for a QB who excels at everything that CL does plus brings along a strong, accurate arm and great mobility.

Kyle Flood has to be worst talent evaluaters on the planet. We should literally do the complete opposite of what he thinks.

Maybe he should pull a George Costanza and do the opposite of what he would normally do and it would work.

The coaches here never would have had the patience with Walker to develop him as a QB. He is a great athlete and it would have been to tempting to move him to the defensive side of the ball. He had to go to a program like Temple, the only way they could have ever gotten a kid with his talent is by promising him they would not move him to defense and he would be given every opportunity to win the job as freshman, which he did.

The completion percentagetards are running rampant on our board. They believe being 12-15, 0 tds, 1 int, 84 yds is a better qb stat line than 8-15, 2tds, 0 ints, 150 yds. Dinking and dunking offenses won't cut it in the BIG. Flood and McDaniels trying to win game yesterday with a smash mouth game plan against 9 men in the box Wisc defense was hilarious.

and there's the rub Mike. Flood wouldn't ever change a thing or make an adjust. He won't even play the better guy FOR his system he's got right now much less adjust it.

He still wouldn't have done it. The story is that the one advantage Laviano has over Rettig is his mobility, and we haven't tweaked our offense to suit that. When Laviano came into the Nebraska game for mop up duty, he threw 7 passes and ran 5 times for 50+ yds. Where is that now??

If Michael Vick fell into Flood's lap he would make him play pro style and not run.

did you watch the game?
you are not giving our fan base enough credit.
PJ had half the time CL had all day. his oline was getting their clocks cleaned. but, he was able to lead his team. he is light years ahead of CL when it comes to reading the field and working through progression. and he is far more mobile. not saying he is, but he reminded me of Russell Wilson when we played NC State.

the point is, if CL put up that kind of effort on the field, i think enough in our fan base would have appreciated.

Flood is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.
He really cares about his players too.

A good man.

But a lousy head football coach, period.

The point really is that Walker has been starting at Temple for three years as a qb.
Laviano is a rookie. You do remember what Temple's record was in Walkers' initial year as the starter there ?

Laviano is not a rookie. He is a redshirt sophomore (academic junior) who had appreciable playing time last year.

And there wasn't one P5 school that offered PJ as a QB. So guess they are all idiots. Oh yeah, last year PJ had a 53% completion rate and 13 TDs to 15 Ints. Do you think he would have beat out Nova? You guys crack me up.

PJ Walker, Jihad Thomas from the same Elizabeth team 15 miles up the road. Nate D Smith, LJ's lil' bro' right over the Albany street bridge in HP. All doing rather well on North Broad Street in Flulffya for a "dead"
program. I know that not everything in recruiting is apples and apples but foresight kicks hindsight's *** every time and makes for quality coaching. .And for those who think we would do better in the AAC, I see you out there, think again..

That goes directly to my point. If they had recruited him as a QB they would have had to display patience, i.e, redshirt freshman year, back up Nova last year, and this year would have been his first year starting. However, like I stated, he is such a great athlete there is no way they would have had the patience to not put him on the field in his first two years, they would have moved him to the defensive side of the field by spring ball of his first year.
