I wonder if it was the Public school that got the shaft if the IHSA would be singing a different tune this week.

And we haven't had a need to reverse a decision since last Saturday. It hasn't opened pandora's box.

The outcome of the game was not changed by this player getting ejected. I don't see the relevance of this comparing to not knowing the rule. This case was the misapplication or a misinterpretation of the rule. A gray area no doubt, but don't see how this is relevant to officials just not knowing the rules.

I think it's kinda funny that some of the guys that tell me life isn't fair when it comes to the private advantage are the ones crying the loudest now... maybe same applies, life isn't always fair and it's time to move on..

REALLY? REALLY? I went to a Catholic school and I'd be as much up in arms as if it was Johnsburg or Maine South or Palatine or Plainfield North

The outcome of perhaps the entire tournament was changed by the overturned call, that kid sits the next game as ruled by the official making the call and they may lose the next game and that is that. Point being is the IHSA said at the time they could not over-rule an officials call once the game was final per their by-laws...the player was ejected and the game continued on with him ejected. then because of pressure they over-turned the call going against their statement. They did overturn a call regardles of their by-law statement. They should here as well

You are upset the IHSA isn't doing the right thing and the refs aren't following the rules... I am upset the IHSA doesn't enforce their rules regarding recruitment of athletes.... what's the difference???

... because it's all a conspiracy against catholic schools. Give me a break. We lost a semi-final game in 1987 against Hersey on a bad call. Hurts a lot, but until officials are better paid there will continue to be a smaller talent pool of refs than desired.

It's the inherent advantage private schools have. Not all of them use it to the best of their abilities. Some do. It's called human nature.

Did this player get ejected by the refs or by IHSA after a picture surfaced? If I recall, the ref during the game never saw it and the kid was ejected but ruled ineligible after the game. I could be wrong but for some reason, this is what I remember.

OK, what happened was Richmond already had 1 technical for disrespecting an official in the regional final vs Fremd. The 2nd technical was for Richmond hanging on the rim after a dunk attempt he missed. There was a very grainy terrible video that came out that showed Richmond did not hang on the rim. The rim broke away like it should have and it gave the appearance that Richmond hung on the rim. So Richmond would have been ineligible for the Sectional semifinal (I forgot who it was against) where without Richmond they probably lose. Thankfully common sense prevailed for once and Richmond's 2nd technical was rescinded.

How come everyone wants to turn this awful situation into another public/private debate and/or the 29th recruiting thread?

Does anyone know if Fenwick has sought legal advice?
Are they still practicing?
Has there been any IHSA discussions about how to ensure this doesn't happen again? I like the call up to the booth with an official with a manual in the press box for playoff games......

So true. It really is a shame how Fenwick AD, coaches, and administrators are berating all Plainfield North accounts on twitter like they did something wrong. Then the other private schools like Loyola join in on the hate saying they are all going to come early for the 7A game just to cheer against PN. Sad.

I agree. It is very dumb for Fenwick fans to blame PN for a blown ruling by the referees and the fact that Fenwick couldn't stop PN in overtime. I don't see any fault of PN's there.

Where are Fenwick people blaming PN? I haven't seen any of that. Some examples of this behavior?

Don't know how to post tweets on here, but it is pretty easy to find on twitter. One of their coaches is really out of control with his disrespect. It really is a shame.

Private schools like Loyola joining in the hate? I've seen one FAN of Loyola say what you are attributing to an entire school.

You need to take a chill pill.

You are right. I was speaking of fans when it came to Loyola. I did not make that clear. I apologize.

Can you please provide proof that LA players are making these types of statements, or are you just spouting off baseless allegations?

If you would take a deep breath and read the post right above yours, you will see my correction on the Loyola comment. Feel free to get on twitter and find it yourself. Ramblinman seemed to find a tweet like I was talking about pretty fast.

Really? I just went back and looked at every tweet, retweet, and reply of theirs since the game and there hasn't been one about or directed to Fenwick.

Interesting. If I was a Fenwick employee, I still would not engage in a twitter battle with an opposing team's student section.
