Anyone who said that Kevin had already mailed it in after the UT or AU losses owes him and all serious UK fans an apology. Man up.

Why should they? Maybe he did quit on some plays out of frustration. It certainly seems he’s learned from that, however. Part of being young for some. Just glad he’s picked it up. Dude has shown ability to be a top 10 pick throughout the year, but consistent effort was an issue until the last few games. Unless someone tweeted him personally, and if so they’re a POS, no apology is necessary.

NOT! The threads didn't accuse him of taking plays off or just not coping with bad nights; rather, they said he had mailed it in and cared about nothing other than the NBA going forward - PERIOD. That was never true and everyone including you, who has watched the past 4 games, knows it too.

I agree with that too. If we are going to make an NCAAT run, Cal has said that we need Hami to contribute and cut down on the errors. We cannot go with Quade and SGA for the entire 40 minutes, that's for sure. I want us wearing other teams down, not the reverse.

Agreed. He was showing signs tonight. However one bad decision and the boo birds were crying floods.

I’ve never thought he just cared about the nba. I see now that that was the crowd you're preaching to. My apologies

Yes that's right. I wasn't impugning the entire BBN, just the fair weather fans who feel that you are only as good as your last game; specifically, the '[w]hat have you done for me lately' group.

We haven't had any kids mail it for the most under Cal at all. It is just a dumbass thing fans who lack understanding of the game say. It is like saying so so is selfish or so so just cares about the NBA or so and so is thug. It is the easy excuse for poor play but rarely is the truth. Cal recruits great kids . I can't think of one punk he has had here . The closest things were Orton or Goodwin but both of those IMO were good guys just both a tad lazy.

A 4 game losing streak causes folks to say a lot of things. But I remember Cal saying they were getting better and that this team was fine. Folks got upset over that too.
I like that this team is sharing the ball and rebounding the way they are. That bodes well for the tourney.

Once KK decided to pull it down and drive it...everything began to click...

How many blow-by's did he have tonight? I lost count...

There was one game, I don't remember which, where the ESPN chatterboxes kept commenting on Knox " just standing there". It's not entirely impossible that 964 texts from friends and family helped to direct his focus. Embarrassment is a strong motivator.

I think that's just part of the maturation process that Cal talks about constantly. A sign of lack of maturity is to hang your head and just not give your all because your shots aren't falling or you were beaten 3 straight times on the defensive end. I think Knox went through that several times and Cal called him and others out for doing it. I'm just sorry that it took 4 straight losses to break that and other bad habits, but all that matters is that we are clicking now and in the NCAAT.

Good post until the last sentence.

Orton had an attitude playing behind Cousins and also had a bad knee.

People need to make up thier minds on Goodwin... was he lazy or did he try to do too much and was selfish?

True. But there are a lot of clueless posters, saying a lot of clueless things here every day. Actually, some big apologies are owed to Coach Calipari.

Apologize to who? I was not one of them, but can you honestly say that Knox didn't quit on this team several times this year? Any player that takes plays off and doesn't try is quitting on his team mates. Any player that does not want to give full effort, needs to tell coach, put me on the bench.

I was one that was HARD on Kevin Knox. At the time it was warranted. He was playing soft and missing during games. Something has clicked with him. Maybe we are actually running plays for him. He has definitely clicked into a higher gear than for the first 20 games. Maybe it is Vanderbilt. His energy seems to be rubbing off on people.

I never said he mailed it in, but I did say he is mentally soft. Which I still believe. He hasn't proven me wrong by playing better.
